“Model Trains is a game built around creativity and community. We want players to shape its future alongside us — not just receive a finished product. Early Access lets us release a solid, playable experience while we listen, iterate and grow the game based on real feedback from the people who matter most: the players.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We estimate between 3 and 9 months, depending on the scope of feedback and content we want to deliver before v1.0. We'll be transparent about our progress throughout the process.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to expand the game significantly based on community feedback. This includes more train types and locomotives to unlock new mission possibilities, new mechanics that deepen the gameplay experience, and a much larger catalogue of decoration pieces for the editor. Our goal is for v1.0 to feel like a complete, polished version of everything Early Access promises.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version includes a fully functional map editor, Steam Workshop support to share and download maps from the community, and the core gameplay loop: build your railway network and complete missions transporting cargo and passengers between stations. It is a complete and playable experience — Early Access is about growing it further, not finishing it.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to increase the price when we leave Early Access, reflecting the additional content and features added during development. Players who join early will get the best price.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Through our Discord server, Steam forums and community posts. We'll share regular development updates, actively read and respond to feedback, and let the community vote on priorities when it makes sense. The players who join us in Early Access will have a direct line to the team and a real impact on what the game becomes.

About This Game

Your railway. Your rules. Model Trains is a sandbox railway experience where you design every inch of your network. Lay tracks across open landscapes, build stations, add bridges, tunnels and scenery — the map is yours to shape however you imagine it.

More than tracks — build a world. Decorate your railway with hundreds of objects. Towns, forests, mountains, industrial areas — every map tells a story, and you're the one writing it.

Then put it to work. Once your network is ready, it's time to run it. Take on missions to transport cargo and passengers between stations. Timing, routing, efficiency — simple to start, deep to master.

Share your world with the community. Upload your maps to the Steam Workshop and explore thousands of railways built by other players. Every layout is a new challenge, a new story to ride through.
