Why Early Access?

“Silver or Lead blends turn-based tactics with battle royale survival, and getting the balance right takes actual playtesting with real people. Early Access gives us the space to test combat feel, the in-game economy, loot distribution across the map, and peer-to-peer performance with an active player base. We want to build and balance the game openly so the end product is genuinely competitive and fun.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming for roughly 12 months. That should give us enough room to build out systems like the Alliance mechanic, patch issues, and tune the game based on player feedback without rushing things out the door.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We hope to expand on the core loop as development continues. Our main priorities include:

- Trying out an Alliance System to give players more tactical options mid-match.
- Adding new weapons, gear, and visual polish across the four biomes.
- Continually tuning combat balance, economy numbers, and general stability based on how matches play out.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The core loop is already playable from start to finish:

- Complete combat system covering melee, mid-range, and long-range encounters, plus usable items.
- A medium map with four playable sectors: Uptown, Downtown, Central Park, and No Man's Land.
- All eight War Chiefs are in place so you can buy and sell gear, weapons, and medical supplies.
- Peer-to-peer multiplayer set up for 2 to 8 players.

Keep in mind that because the game is actively being worked on, you will run into bugs, rough edges, and frequent balance tweaks.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We want to price it lower during Early Access as a thanks to anyone jumping in early and helping us test. We plan to raise the price when the 1.0 version rolls around to match the added content and polish.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Player feedback is the main reason we are doing Early Access in the first place. We plan to keep in touch through:
- Steam Community Hub: Set threads for bug reports, balance talks, and feature requests.
- In-Game Feedback: Quick links to drop thoughts while you play.
- Dev Updates: Regular posts sharing what we are working on, early previews, and occasional community polls to see what you want us to tackle next.”

About This Game

Welcome to Burgastan Set in a former USSR city-state under full lock down, players take on the role of operators from different countries fighting to claim territory. Silver or Lead offers a unique gameplay loop that combines the classic feel of a board game with the progression of a video game battle royale.

Tactical Turn-Based Survival

The core experience revolves around grid-based movement and calculated risks.

  • Roll the Dice: Movement is determined by rolling a six-sided die, allowing you to traverse the grid horizontally or vertically.

  • On the Clock: Every turn is timed, forcing you to make calculated decisions quickly about your movement, attacks, and interactions.

  • Fog of War: A restricted line-of-sight system keeps the map mysterious. Walls and buildings obstruct your view, meaning opponents are only revealed when they are close.

The Economy of War

In this city, Silver is life. Found as loot or earned by selling gear, Silver is the primary currency used to survive.

  • Loot and Scavenge: Scour the map for weapons, consumable items like healing or poison, and armor to enhance your stats.

  • High-Stakes Combat: Eliminate opponents to loot their Silver, weapons, and items.

  • Meet the War Chiefs: Trade your Silver with specialized NPC shopkeepers known as War Chiefs. These characters range from "Hetzer," an engineer selling armor, to "Butcher," a deranged former surgeon dealing in medical supplies.

Choose Your Weapon

Combat is determined by strategy and RNG mechanics.

  • Melee: Delivers the highest damage potential but requires you to close the distance for a high-risk, high-reward attack.

  • Short-to-Medium Range: Provides a safe distance for sustained engagement, offering a balance between mobility and damage output.

  • Long Range: Allows you to attack from great distances, offering superior safety at a higher cost in Silver and rarity.
