A dark fantasy multiplayer action RPG. Hunt monsters across deformable terrain, harvest their parts, and craft gear from what you kill. Dig a pit, use the pit. The physics hold it, and the monsters navigate around it. The world holds every mark you leave.

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“RiftForged is built on a custom engine with live physics simulation, server-authoritative networking, and a systems-driven crafting loop. The core T0–T3 hunt, harvest, and craft loop is complete and stable. We're releasing in Early Access to build the community that will shape the full game; expanding content tiers, refining combat systems, and completing the world, while real players provide feedback on balance and feel. Development will continue through Early Access to a full 1.0 release. We are committed to seeing RiftForged through to completion.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“9-12 Months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Early Access is meant to showcase the core systems and game functionality up to instanced destructible hunts. Full Release will have story, player-owned world zones, world hunts and fully instanced destructible hunts.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access build includes a complete T0–T3 progression loop. Three monsters are implemented with distinct behavioral profiles: sanguisuga and carnilacerator (T1 overworld) and scolopendra (T2 hunt). Monsters have persistent bodies after death and can be harvested for parts. The Biomancy crafting bench is functional. Harvested parts craft modular weapons (core, handling, and modifier components) and armor with resistances tied to the source monster. Terrain deforms in real time using live physics simulation. Monster AI navigates the updated geometry dynamically. Player progression includes the Resonance leveling system and five-element Proficiency tree. The hold-to-execute ability system supports four ability types: basic, heavy, status setter, and status consumer. Multiplayer is live and server-authoritative. Sound, ambient audio, additional story content, and higher content tiers are still in active development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Pricing will increase at full launch.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I will be holding community polls regularly regarding content and design, as well as asking the community directly, through Steam Community Polls, what they want to see in the game and how they want interactions to unfold.”

About This Game

Something old lives in the hills of Eldoria. The Void is closing in, monsters roam the fractured wilds, and the land itself responds to every scar you leave on it. Hunt. Harvest. Craft gear from the remains of what tried to kill you. The terrain deforms when you fight. Your pits become traps, ridgelines become cover, and every mark persists on the shared server until the next cycle.

Hunt what lives here. Wear what you kill.

Riftforged is a multiplayer action RPG built around preparation and consequence. Monsters hit hard and telegraph their attacks; you must read them, reposition, and use the terrain to your advantage or you will die. Carve parts from what you kill and assemble them at the Biomancy Bench to craft gear aligned with the monster that dropped it. Come back stronger. Push into the next tier. Become Forged from the Rift.

The world reacts

Terrain deformation is physics, not a visual effect. Dig a pit and the monster falls in. Collapse a ridgeline and change the shape of the fight. Every player on the server sees the same world you are shaping in real time and it stays changed. The server regenerates some zones, but expect persistent deformations.

The server owns the rules of the game

Every action in RiftForged is resolved on the server. The client renders what the server confirms; nothing more. There are no client-side shortcuts, no local predictions dressed up as facts. What you see is what the server knows. What every other player sees is the same thing, and when your hits resolve know that they are already confirmed.

This means no desyncing, no rubber-banding, no one player's client lying to another's. If terrain deforms, it deforms for everyone at once, because the physics run on the server and the result is sent to every client simultaneously. The world is one thing, not a collection of client predicted outcomes resolved with server rollback.

You can't look up what you haven't earned

In most online games, the entire item database, including every weapon stat, every drop table, every crafting recipe is sitting in the game files on your hard drive. Data miners post it before you've played a single hour. The mystery is gone before it begins.

RiftForged doesn't work that way. The client never receives data it hasn't earned the right to ask for. Weapon tooltips, crafting recipes, monster drop data; none of it exists on your machine until you've done the work that unlocks the right to request it from the server. You can't learn what you don't have prerequisites for.

The world gives up its secrets when you earn them. Not before.
