Why Early Access?

“We believe it is important to give our community a chance to experience the game in this early form in order to give us the best possible opportunity to iterate on your feedback, bug reports, and critiques on our journey to make the best rendition of a large scale, RvR-centric MMORPG on the market. Early Access provides us with the chance to congregate our long-time Backers with new players to receive the broadest spectrum of actionable feedback.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We intend for Camelot Unchained to remain in Early Access until we are at a point that the game reaches our standard for a fully complete user experience. At this time, we're planning to leave Early Access around December of 2026. We are working to achieve this goal every single day, and your participation in Early Access will play a huge part in us getting there!”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“In the full version of Camelot Unchained we plan to feature more archetypes, classes, professions, zones, siege combat, a greater variety of enemies, and in-depth character progression.

To be more specific, we are actively working on reaching a total of ten archetypes, with each archetype being home to its own unique class variation per Realm. We have a revamped progression system in the works designed to offer meaningful choices to players in how they build their characters, narrowing their mechanical focus and making each character able to be unique and specialized.

Additionally, we intend to introduce more advanced RvR mechanics, including siege weapons, expanded benefits from capturing different Points of Interest, and a broader variety of environments to fight in across multiple new zones. This includes an endgame zone that will pit players against the toughest challenges, with the potential to find the highest quality materials in all of CU.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In the current version of the game, players will have access to all three Realms, with three unique races in each Realm. There are six Archetypes to choose from, with a total of eighteen hand-designed classes. Every class has its own set of three skill trees to level through. Character creation includes the ability to choose between two default skill assignments as well as the option to assign your own skill points. Each Realm has its own Home Island to explore, and there are three Contested Zones to explore, fight over, and gather resources from. These contested zones are also home to Points of Interest that enhance the abilities of whatever Realm controls them, situated around a centrally defended Keep.

Players have the ability to level several different professions through harvesting, gathering, and crafting materials and equipment. Players are able to trade items with each other, form parties and warbands, and create/join guilds. Basic functionality of all UI elements is implemented, and these elements can be customized to fit player preference.

It is crucial to note that at this point in Early Access, our servers are only available over the weekends - this will typically mean from every Friday afternoon to every Monday afternoon in the UTC-4 timezone. In the near future, as we continue to build up our infrastructure for the game, the servers will switch to being available every day. While we intend for Camelot Unchained to be a subscription based product in the long term, we are not expecting to implement a monthly subscription fee until the servers are fully accessible with 24/7 availability.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes - during the course of Early Access, our goal is to keep the price of the game low to maintain accessibility and respect the time investment of those joining Camelot Unchained’s journey early on. This will help us to pay for the server costs inherent to developing an MMORPG. At the beginning of Early Access, all races, archetypes, and classes that have been developed so far will be playable.

However, at a later point during our Early Access window, Camelot Unchained will shift into two distinct tiers - the Base Edition and the War Unending Edition.

The Base Edition of the game will include access to a robust, curated set of races and classes representative of an introductory gameplay experience for Camelot Unchained. The War Unending Edition will include all current content, as well as new content that is added during the course of Early Access and through the full release. During Early Access some War Unending content will be available to users with the Base Edition for testing purposes and this access may rotate during the Early Access period.

Additionally, while we are not currently charging a monthly subscription at this stage of Early Access, it is our intention to do so once our game servers have switched from weekend availability to full-time availability. At that time, subscriptions will be implemented and need to be manually opted into by players - you won’t receive any unexpected charges from us, so don’t worry!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“During Early Access, we will be continually and diligently taking in feedback from our community, covering new features as they are added and existing content as it is tweaked. We intend to host and organize regular in-game events to bring community members together, and provide the opportunity for players to provide their critique and concerns directly to the developers who are making the game. We are committed to ensuring that our community feels involved every step of the way with the development of Camelot Unchained.

Additionally, it is our intention to showcase seasonal roadmaps with planned content to provide a more concrete and easily accessible plan for players following our progress.”

Base Edition

The base edition of Camelot Unchained will include access to a robust, curated set of races and classes representative of an introductory gameplay experience. If you’re looking to dip your toes into the world of CU without fully committing, this is the edition for you! And don’t worry, you can upgrade at any time without missing out.

Note: At this stage of Early Access, the CU game servers will typically be available from Friday to Monday. Once we have completed the shift to servers maintaining full weekly availability, it is our intent to implement a monthly subscription fee. All players will have advance notice of this change, and will need to opt into paying the subscription.

War Unending Edition

To experience the full breadth of what Camelot Unchained has to offer, the War Unending Edition will provide players with a complete experience that you can upgrade to at any time. This edition of the game includes access to all new content that will be introduced to the game over the course of Early Access and into the full release of CU.

Note: Existing CU Backers (e.g., those who purchased not through Steam) will be provided with access to this edition of the game through the Unchained Launcher at no additional cost.
