What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“As a solo developer who's fresh to the industry, practically every step I'm taking is a new experience. I would love to get as much feedback as possible while the game is in its early stages, so then I can ensure that this game is as fun and as memorable as can be!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This game will be in early access for likely a year or two, and then another one or two years of post-launch content. I have lots of other game ideas that I'd love to develop, so ideally I don't want to be focused on one project for too long.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The overall gameplay formula is a player-selected mixture of; level, gamemode, monster, and difficulty. I plan to implement more levels, gamemodes, monsters, difficulties, as well as more tools (flashlights & special items) and other various content as updates release. I'm also working to get player hosted servers implemented either for when early access launches, or as close to that day as possible. Dedicated servers and Workshop support are two other additions that I'd like to implement eventually.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Currently all content is still a work in progress. Right now, there's one map, one monster, and the only item you have is a flashlight. Over the coming weeks and months, more and more content will continue to be implemented and finalized.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price it is now will very likely remain the same after early access. If anything; I plan to lower the price once development comes to an end, and after enough time has passed.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“While most of the game has already been planned out behind the scenes, I'm open to all ideas and suggestions. I'll plan to regularly read reviews for feedback, and connect with the community through the SUBFAULT Steam discussions. I'm also active in THE.PROJECT Development Studio Discord (and easily reachable through there). Input from the community is something I will always value, and in turn use to make the game better!

- Ian Hamm”

About This Game

Employed by a sinister authority, you take on the role of a glorified handyman - tasked with upkeeping various subsystems in dangerous environments.

Get in, do your thing, then get out.

Each service call you'll find yourself on is tailored by you.

You get to choose which;
LEVEL to visit,
GAMEMODE to play,
MONSTER to hide from,
and DIFFICULTY to suffer through.

Your brave work does not go unnoticed!

  • Complete levels and gamemode objectives to be rewarded with Exp and Cash.

  • Gain Exp to level up and earn Skill Tokens to improve your servicing and survival abilities.

  • Earn Cash to purchase Specialty Items and upgrades to help ensure you leave work in one piece.

Be careful - if you fail to complete a level (i.e. you die)... you don't get paid!

The awesome features listed below are planned and are NOT currently in-game.

  • More ways to mix and match: 25+ levels, 10+ gamemodes, 10+ monsters, and 5 difficulties overall.

  • Online multiplayer: Host or join lobbies with your friends.

  • The Shaft: Play an infinite series of procedurally generated levels, with its own optional progression.

  • Level editor & Workshop: Create and share levels on the Steam Workshop.

And more...
