About This Game

❝ A face never before seen in this world. ❞

Daman-gol (The Walled Valley)—a land shielded by a colossal stone wall, where even the wind cannot reach.

A man collapses at its entrance, wearing garments unlike anything crafted by the village artisans. He is blind, and his memory is gone. The villagers call him 'Kang-woon' (The Descending Cloud).

He is an outsider said to have come from the world beyond the wall—a man with neither the language nor the memories of this land. Yet, because he knows nothing, the world unfolds before him in its rawest form. His status as a stranger, ironically, brings Daman-gol into the sharpest focus.

However, he cannot perceive it alone. By his side stands Arin, a spiritual archer. Only when Arin is with him does the world truly open.

Two Characters, Guided by a Single Hand (1-Player, 2-Character Simultaneous Control)

<Young-An> is a side-scrolling action RPG where a single player simultaneously controls two distinct characters.

Division of Roles: The swordsman Kang-woon and the archer Arin divide the battlefield with differing roles. The player directly controls Kang-woon to engage large enemies in head-on combat. Arin navigates the battlefield autonomously and reacts instantly whenever the player triggers her skills, providing immediate firepower and utility support from her position.

Shared Vision: When the two are close together, their field of vision expands. If Arin falls or moves too far away, Kang-woon’s vision narrows. Keeping the duo together is both a narrative core and an absolute condition for survival in combat.

Parrying — Read the Exact Moment of Impact

Combat in <Young-An> revolves around breaking the enemy's Balance (BAL) gauge to knock them down. To incapacitate foes, you must unleash relentless assaults or neutralize them instantly with a perfect parry. Master three distinct parrying techniques to adapt to the shifting tides of battle:

Mind's Eye (心眼 - Shim-an): Kang-woon's melee parry. Deliver a sharp, decisive blade strike to deflect frontal attacks and punish the enemy.

Radiant Array (光明陣 - Gwang-myeong-jin): Arin's ranged parry. Conjure a defensive wall of arrows to deflect incoming projectiles from all directions.

Phantom Veil (絶影 - Jeol-yeong): A special parry executed mid-attack. Disrupt the enemy's counterattack instantly without breaking the flow of your combo.

The timing is unforgiving. Striking at the exact millisecond of impact triggers a devastating counter. Reading the erratic patterns and rhythms of each monster is the ultimate key to mastery.

Arin — The Second Axis of the Battlefield

Though Arin moves autonomously, she is far more than a mere support character.

Strategic Divide: While Kang-woon locks horns with major threats, Arin clears out surrounding lesser units. How you grow Arin and upgrade her abilities determines how effectively Kang-woon can focus entirely on his targets.

Weakness Exploitation & Bestiary Clues: Every monster possesses a unique weakness. By utilizing clues from the Monster Bestiary, timing Arin's 'Crescent Arrow' (弦月矢 - Hyeon-wol-si) to hit the enemy mid-action will instantly deplete their Balance gauge, forcing them into a downed state.

Weaponizing the Environment: Use the Crescent Arrow to strike battlefield structures—such as ceiling pillars, hanging boulders, or crumbling debris—to trigger environmental knockdowns on monsters. Turn the arena itself into your weapon.

Exploration & Puzzles — Unraveling the World Together

The structures within the walls are far from simple. Paths remain locked to Kang-woon alone, and ancient gimmicks require both travelers to operate. Explore hidden spaces by controlling two characters at once, swapping their cues, or directing them to move in opposite directions to unlock secrets.

An Asian World, Through the Eyes of a Stranger

The world of Young-An is built upon a foundation of traditional Asian aesthetics.

The walled land of Daman-gol is deeply rooted in Korean sentiments. The Hanja-derived names of the monsters — Gyeol-nabi (結蝶 - The Binding Butterfly), Ja-ryeong-seok-goe (紫靈石傀 - The Purple Spirit Stone Golem), and Tae-am-gi-won-su (胎岩祈怨獸 - The Womb-Rock Prayer Beast) — reflect the dark history and terror embedded in this world.

The full game will feature not only Korean themes but also uniquely stylized spaces inspired by China, Japan, and East Asia beyond. This demo is just the beginning of that journey.
