About This Game

Sortie is a co-op game about flying an old twin-engine plane with your friends. One of you flies. The others read the map, watch for landmarks, push cargo out of the door, and climb out onto the wing with a wrench when an engine starts to fail.

It is not a flight simulator. The controls are simple: a yoke, a rudder and a throttle. The hard part is everything else: finding the way, dealing with birds, storms and breakdowns, and getting everyone back on the ground.

The jobs

• Drop packages over a marked field. Try not to hit your own tail.
• Fly passengers to another airfield and keep the ride smooth.
• Put out field fires, and sow and spray fields from the air.
• Fly at night by the lights of the farms and towns below.
• Take jobs over the phone from the people around the county, follow their story, then keep flying odd jobs.

Flying

• No GPS and no autopilot. You have a compass, an altimeter, a radio compass, a paper map you can draw on, and what you can see out of the window.
• Fly too low and you hit birds. Fly too high and you are in the clouds, with lightning.
• Engines, wings and the fuselage take damage. Fix what you can in the air; the rest has to wait for a hangar.
• Refuel from cans, replace blown fuses, and land in a field when you have to.
• If someone falls out, they can open a parachute, or wait at the nearest airfield until the job is over.

Together

• Online co-op for up to 4 players through Steam. Friends can join at any time and take a free seat.
• You can fly alone too: one pilot can take every job, but the plane is a lot easier, and a lot funnier, with a crew.
• Nobody has a fixed role: anyone can fly, navigate, repair, refuel, or just ride along.
• Earn money from jobs and spend it on upgrades for the plane.
