Ramshackle is a multiplayer sandbox game where you design a combat vehicle, or "Vessel", out of destructible parts and armor, and put it to the test against other player-driven and AI Vessels. Share designs with other players on your server or license it out to the AI and encounter it in battle!

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This is our dream game we've been working on for over 5 years. The game has a solid foundation, and we view Early Access as an opportunity to continue building on that core along with the community.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Likely beyond 2026. Early access is an ongoing commitment to build our game iteratively.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our plans for the full version include expanding the game with additional modules, weapons, and materials for vehicle design. We would also like to add a campaign that can be played solo or in co-op, as well as several dynamic gamemodes on large-scale maps. Our long-term vision is to make these systems modifiable and shareable through the Steam Workshop.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“As of June 2025, the game currently includes fully functioning drop-in/drop-out gamemodes for singleplayer and multiplayer, plus a vehicle editor with seamless "test" mode.

Note: The vehicle builder currently lacks a dedicated tutorial and needs a lot more Quality of Life. Community-maintained tutorials are frequenly updated in our discord's #documentation channel and the game's wiki.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“During Early Access, we may occasionally adjust the price to reflect added content and major updates.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community will continue to be a major driver of what features we prioritize. We plan to gather feedback through surveys, our issue tracker, and the "Suggestions" forum in our Discord. Documentation will also remain community-driven through guides and the wiki.”

About This Game

Ramshackle is a twist on the vehicular build-and-combat genre. Instead of piecing together blocks, you construct vehicles (referred to as "vessels" in-game) with point-placed struts and armor plates as the core structure. Functional modules like wheels, tracks, and weapons integrate into this framework, but they only work when powered by engines, transmission lines, and ammunition. Combat then plays out with simulated ballistics: angled armor can deflect rounds, while a well-placed shot into an ammo rack can tear a vehicle apart from the inside.

Features

  • Designer

    - Construct your vessel's structure using an advanced vertex-based armor editor.

    - Plan your vessel around internal modules. Get five car engines and put them together

  • Single-player, Multiplayer

    - Battle on a variety of terrains across different "Tech" levels, representing eras of military vehicle development.

    - Engage designs made by other players, operated by those players, or AI opponents.

  • Unique Roles

    - A vessel's tradeoffs between armor, firepower, mobility, and utility will determine its success in battle. Designs range from heavily-armored brawlers to paper-thin scouts, and everything in between.
