What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Irregular Earnings is built to be played with other people, and a game like that can only really be tested by a crowd. A handful of testers can't recreate a full lobby.

Early Access lets me get the game in front of real players while it's still easy to change. I need your help to:

Find bugs, especially the ones that only show up online with lots of players at once.

Tell me what's fun and what isn't. Which modes, weapons and systems you keep coming back to, and which ones fall flat.

Give feedback on features as they arrive, so the game grows in the direction its players actually want. (Though of course, I will maintain my creative vision)

Your reports and suggestions will directly shape what gets fixed, reworked or added next.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming for a full release in 2029.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan to keep growing Irregular Earnings well beyond what's in Early Access. Here is some of what I hope to add:

An open world mode: a large dynamic open world, similar to the deals mode

Eating and drinking: food and drink as part of looking after your character.

Casinos: places to gamble your earnings, legitimately or otherwise.

Alongside new features, I intend to keep fixing bugs, improving performance and polishing what's already in the game. ”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Irregular Earnings is playable now, with its core systems in place and one main game mode.

Deals: three teams (Blue, Red and Green) compete over a city map in timed rounds, each with its own objective: trading documents, protecting your CEO, making a drop off, or holding your base against an assault. Earn money, spend it at stores, car dealers and the bling shop, and carry it into the next round.

What's in the game:

Physics-driven bodies: every character is a full active ragdoll. Hits knock you off balance, you can trip, be knocked out, grabbed and dragged, and limbs can be broken or lost.

Weapons: pistols, shotguns, an SMG, an assault rifle, a bolt-action and a scoped rifle, a beanbag shotgun, a taser, and blades including a knife, katana and fire axe. Magazines and shells are real objects you load by hand.

Cars: drive with a manual H-pattern gearbox, carry passengers, stash items or people in the trunk, shoot out windows and tyres, and crash hard enough to throw everyone out.
Injuries: wounds bleed until bandaged, blood loss weakens you, and blood bags can top you back up.

Crime tools: handcuffs, brick phones you can actually call each other on, briefcases to carry cash and documents, and body armor.

Proximity voice and text chat: whisper, talk or yell to the players around you.

Known limitations:

The game currently runs best in lobbies of around 16 players. Larger lobbies are being worked on.

Many sounds are placeholders.

Expect bugs, rough edges and balance changes as testing goes on.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to raise the price gradually as major new content is added, so anyone who joins during Early Access gets the game at a lower price than it will cost at full release. Any price changes will be announced ahead of time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is the reason Irregular Earnings is in Early Access. A multiplayer game needs real players to find its problems and show what's working.

Steam Discussions is where you can report bugs, suggest features and tell me what you love or hate. I read it and take part.

Regular updates with patch notes explaining what changed, what was fixed and why.

Playtests and feedback rounds on new features and modes before they're finished, so you can shape them while they're still easy to change.

Development news posted on the Steam page, so you can see what I'm working on and what's coming next.

Your feedback will directly shape what gets fixed, reworked or added next.”

About This Game

Suits. Briefcases. Bad deals.

Irregular Earnings is an online multiplayer crime shooter where every body, bullet, car and briefcase is physically simulated. Three crews in matching suits split a city between them. Each round, every crew is after something another crew has. Trade for it, steal it, or take it off a body. Everyone has to get out with the money.

Nothing is canned. Your character is an active ragdoll that balances on its own feet. Take a round to the leg and it buckles. Hit a wall and you go through the windscreen.

Deals

Blue, Red and Green each start a round at their own garage base, with a store, a car dealer and an office to bring the goods back to. Every round is a different job:

  • Three Way Deal: every crew holds a document another crew needs.

  • Odd Man Out: one crew has only cash, and the other two need each other.

  • Protect the CEO: keep your boss alive. There's a sealed briefcase of cash somewhere in the city, and only a CEO can carry it.

  • The Drop Off: get the package across town and hold the drop zone while the whole city comes for you.

  • The Assault: the richest crew defends its base against everyone else.

You get no respawns during a round. When you die, you leave a corpse and spectate. Your money carries over between rounds, and everyone can see who's getting rich.

Everything is real

  • Every item in the world is a physics object. That includes guns, magazines, shells, cash, phones and cigarettes.

  • Every magazine keeps its own round count. Tap R to drop the mag, or hold R to pocket it. Pump the shotgun by hand.

  • Guns hang from your physical hand and fire along the real barrel.

  • Grab people and drag them.

Wounds that matter

Every wound bleeds until you bandage it. Bones break. Limbs come off. Lose enough blood and your body weakens. Body armour stops rounds where its plates are, until a rifle cracks it.

Talk your way through it

  • Proximity voice chat lets you whisper, talk or yell.

  • Each crew has brick phones with real numbers. Dial another crew and negotiate, or lie to them.

  • The dead talk to each other, and only to each other.

Drive it like you stole it

Every car has a manual H-pattern gearbox that you shift with the mouse. You can shoot out the windows, pop the tyres, wreck the engine, and run people over.

Arsenal

Pistols, an SMG, an AR, pump and beanbag shotguns, a bolt-action rifle with a real scope, knives, a katana, a fire axe, a taser, handcuffs, blood bags, and gold chains for when the deal goes well.

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Irregular Earnings contains frequent violence and gore. Players shoot, stab and cut one another with guns, knives, swords and an axe. Wounds bleed, bones break, limbs and heads can be cut off, heads can be blown apart and bodies cut in half. Corpses remain in the world. The art style is low-poly and blocky, but the gore is shown in detail.

Players can restrain others with handcuffs, shock them with a taser.

The game shows drug use: players can snort a white powder that gives them a temporary boost. Characters can also smoke cigarettes.

There is crude humor: characters may urinate or defecate when they are knocked down, and players can choose to urinate or defecate.

The game has no sexual content.

The game includes online voice and text chat with other players, which is not moderated.
