About This Game

THE LAST PORTRAIT is a horror adventure centered around the mansion of Ashwood Manor. Since the death of art collector Edgar Ashwood, who lived there with his wife, dark legends have surrounded the house. Rumor has it that the mysterious villa is not entirely abandoned. You play as a burglar who breaks into Ashwood Manor to steal Edgar Ashwood’s most valuable piece, which is said to still remain there. Will you manage to enter the house? Can you solve its puzzles—and will you succeed in venturing deeper and deeper into the estate to steal the painting? And in the end, will Ashwood Manor let you leave?

Edgar Ashwood was an eccentric but highly successful art collector and art historian. After purchasing the old estate, he transformed Ashwood Manor into a private gallery filled with rare and disturbing works. His particular passion was for paintings that explored psychological darkness. In 1952, he married young Isadora Vale, a rising painter from Florence. At first, the two led a publicly admired artistic life—she was beautiful, creative, and gentle; he was cultivated, mysterious, and wealthy. But in the late 1960s, Isadora disappeared without a trace. Edgar withdrew from public life and spent his final years alone in the house.

Until his death, Edgar Ashwood sold off all his artworks. Only one remained: Isadora’s final self-portrait, said to have been painted shortly before her death. Legend has it that the painting carries a curse—and thus is considered an especially valuable piece of dark art. Its location remains unknown. However, art student Miles Dorne believes otherwise: he is convinced that the painting is still hidden somewhere within Ashwood Manor. And so, on a stormy night, he breaks into the villa in search of the artwork. Where is the painting—and what really happened within Ashwood Manor?

  • BREAK INTO THE DARK MANSION! To reach the painting, you must not only gain access to Ashwood Manor but also venture deep into its shadowy halls.

  • SOLVE THE PUZZLES! Many doors in Ashwood Manor are locked—but they don’t have to stay that way. Solve the challenges and riddles the house confronts you with.

  • FIND HIDDEN OBJECTS! Clues and useful items are scattered everywhere to aid you on your journey. Look closely!

  • SHOW YOUR COURAGE! Is the old mansion truly abandoned? Find out—and beware the haunting presence that lurks behind every corner.

  • BECOME THE HUNTER, THEN THE HUNTED! Have you found the painting? Then get it out of the house. But will Ashwood Manor ever let you walk free again?
