About This Content

Take in the sights and sounds of 1980s action with Just Trains’ 2nd stretch of the classic West Coast Main Line, between Crewe and Preston, in Train Sim World. From pit to power station, go full-throttle - or not, as the case may be - on Britain’s iconic merry-go-round coal trains, and wind through Warrington & Wigan on express passenger duties.

The West Coast Main Line was built by many smaller companies during the birth of the railway era. Following the Grand Junction Railway’s arrival into historic Crewe from Warrington, the North Union Railway extended north, taking rails through Wigan and Preston. By 1846 a full connection all the way from London to Carlisle had been established.

In Train Sim World, get to work across a busy section of 1980s West Coast Main Line on a variety of mixed-traffic trains. Play your part in keeping the lights on by transporting, shunting and delivering coal-laden Merry-Go-Round services between Bickershaw and Parkside collieries to Fiddlers Ferry Power Station, or make good use of the national grid by powering at speed through the North-West of England aboard electric-hauled expresses.

At your disposal is the BR Class 86/4, a versatile subclass of the iconic AC electric fleet, capable of working in multiple with other locos on both passenger and freight haulage. Supporting alongside is the hard-working and upgraded duo of the Class 20/0 and Class 47/3, both of which sport Slow Speed controls for crawling with their coal. Featuring a myriad of classic liveries, all motive power will look the part while hauling all-new HAA hoppers, upgraded HEA hoppers, and air-con equipped Mk2 coaches.

Embark across an intense and varied 1986 timetable which, as well as making use of the diverse stock included, takes advantage of almost every backdated UK add-on in Train Sim World, as well as Cargo Line Vol.5 - Nuclear! From express parcels to light engine moves and shunting, a cavalcade of classic British traction awaits on non-stop action. (Layered content available separately).

And the journey doesn’t end there! Continue the 1980s nostalgia by route hopping to Just Trains’ own Preston - Carlisle for an extended trip up the main line, or take the branches to Blackpool. If you’re really after an endurance run, make the most of your collection by hopping your way through two eras, across the full 299 miles between London Euston and Carlisle! (Other WCML routes available separately).
