What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Crown & Conquest is a deeply systems-driven game — chain reactions, deck-building, and AI opponents all interact in ways whose rough edges only show once real players push on them. Early Access lets us tune the cascade balance, AI difficulty curve, card economy, and campaign pacing with direct feedback from the people actually playing, instead of guessing in a vacuum. The core game is fully playable today; we want your input to make it great before 1.0.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We're planning roughly 6 to 12 months in Early Access. That window covers adding online multiplayer, expanding the campaign and theme content, and a full balance and polish pass. We would rather extend it than ship 1.0 before the game is genuinely ready.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“ We plan to grow the Early Access build toward a fuller 1.0 that we intend to include:
- Online multiplayer (ranked and casual)
- More campaign content, plus additional AI opponents and bosses
- Additional theme packs
- Improved accessibility and controller / Steam Deck support
- A full balance, audio, and visual polish pass”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version is a complete, playable single-player game: the full chain-reaction board mechanic, deck-building and card play, the King and Queen royalty systems, a campaign against multiple AI opponents and boss encounters, a guided tutorial, local hotseat (pass-and-play), and multiple visual themes. It does not yet include online multiplayer, and some content and balance are still being refined.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. The Early Access price will be lower than the planned 1.0 price — early supporters get in at a discount as a thank-you for helping shape the game. We plan to raise the price as we add major features such as online multiplayer and approach the full release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We will gather feedback through the Steam Community Hub and discussions and use it to drive our priorities — balance tweaks, AI tuning, quality-of-life features, and which content to build next. Players who report bugs and share strategies directly influence the patch roadmap, and we will post regular development updates on what we are working on and why.”

About This Game

A quiet room. A growing board. One move can change everything.

Take your seat in Crown & Conquest, a tactical deck-building board game where Reversi meets chess and chain reactions. Choose your cards, claim territory, and turn a carefully planned placement into a cascade that reshapes the match.

Settle into a warmly lit reading room, surrounded by wooden furniture, books, and a board that grows as you play. The atmosphere is relaxed. The next move can be anything but.

Start with the familiar Reversi sandwich: place a Disk to trap and flip opposing pieces. Then bring Knights, Rooks, and Bishops into play. When flipped, these pieces fire their own patterns, triggering other pieces and setting off chains across the board. Read the connections, find the opening, and turn your opponent’s position against them.

See the chain before you commit. Hover over a placement to preview its cascade and weigh the result. A powerful move might win you territory—or leave the perfect response for your opponent. Control the board to deal damage when scoring arrives.

Build your deck and manage your hand with chess pieces and special cards such as Shield, Swap, Convert, and Bomb. Decide when to play, when to refill, and which cards to keep. Establish your King as a permanent, unflippable anchor, and plan around your Queen’s charging automatic strike.

Follow the campaign from the Outer Courts to the Throne Room, facing rivals with distinct abilities and bosses whose rules change as the battle unfolds. Learn through short explanations and recorded gameplay examples, then put those lessons into practice. For a different challenge, share the same computer with a friend in local pass-and-play.

  • Cascades with consequences — Trigger chain reactions through pieces with distinct attack patterns.

  • A growing battlefield — Adapt your position as new spaces open around the board.

  • Preview your move — Inspect predicted flips and chain reactions before placing a card.

  • Build your strategy — Customize your deck and use 10 card types, including royal pieces and special cards.

  • Four campaign chapters — Face varied AI rivals, earn stars, and take on bosses with multiple phases.

  • Learn by watching — Short tutorials and gameplay demonstrations introduce the same rules used in normal matches.

  • Local two-player play — Challenge a friend on the same computer.

  • Make the board your own — Choose from different visual themes for the board and pieces.

A seat at the table. A kingdom to claim.
