What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“At Talent Digital, we believe that games reach their full potential when developed alongside their players. Pecking Order is a fast-paced, chaotic multiplayer experience that thrives on balance, strategy, and unpredictable fun. By launching in Early Access, we can fine-tune gameplay mechanics, test new features, and ensure that every match delivers maximum enjoyment.

With direct player feedback, we can refine movement, balance bird and worm abilities, and introduce new maps and objectives. We’re committed to iterating based on community input, ensuring that Pecking Order evolves into the best version of itself.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our current development plan anticipates that Pecking Order will remain in Early Access for approximately 6–12 months. However, this timeline may change based on community feedback and the scope of the improvements we undertake. We are committed to delivering a polished, feature-rich experience before leaving Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The Early Access launch of Pecking Order plans to include:
- Fast-paced gameplay with a focus on skillful movement and strategy.
- Multiple ways to play, whether solo or with others.
- Varied environments that present unique challenges.
- Customization options to personalize your experience.

Looking ahead to the full release, we plan to explore:
- Additional content to enhance variety and depth.
- More customization options for further personalization.
- Gameplay refinements based on community feedback.
- Ongoing improvements to optimize the overall experience.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Pecking Order is launching into Early Access with a solid foundation of core mechanics and game modes. Players will be able to experience fast-paced matches, strategic dodging, and high-energy competition from day one.

At launch, the plan is to include:
- Several playable maps with dynamic obstacles and unique environmental hazards.
- A range of playable worms and birds, each with their own movement styles.
- Party-friendly matchmaking, allowing for both solo and team play.
- Customization options, including different skins and unlockables.

While the foundation is in place, we are actively working on expanding and refining the experience. Some elements, such as additional maps, new game modes and extended customization options will be introduced as we progress through Early Access. Player feedback will be instrumental in shaping these additions!”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We want to reward players who join us early in Pecking Order's development and offer a fair price based on content availability. As we expand and refine the game with new features, modes, and improvements, the Early Access price will gradually increase to reflect the additional content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“At Talent Digital Art, we thrive on community-driven development. Engaging with our players has always been a priority, and with Pecking Order, we’re dedicated to making their voices heard.

To foster an active and involved community, we will provide multiple platforms where players can share feedback, report bugs, and suggest new features. Talent Digital Art has an official Discord server, Steam forums, and social media channels where players can interact directly with our team. Additionally, we are planning to maintain a public roadmap so the community can track planned updates and vote on potential new features.

Community feedback will play a crucial role in shaping Pecking Order, influencing gameplay balance, new mechanics and quality-of-life improvements. We believe that by working together, we can create the most engaging and exciting party game possible.”

About This Game

Step into the food chain in this frantic multiplayer party game for up to 16 players. Play as a slippery alien worm racing to power generators and escape - or a relentless bird hunting worms to climb the ranks. Outrun, outfly and outplay your friends. When the dust settles, the leaderboard decides who rules. There’s only one rule in nature: get to the top of the Pecking Order.

Extract or be eaten

As a worm, your only goal is survival.

Collect berries, power the generators and extract back to wherever in the Corkscrew Nebula you crawled in from. Dodge dive-bombing birds, weave through hazards and survive the final seconds or become lunch trying.

Hunt the Helpless

As a bird, your job is simple: don’t let the worms get out.

Chase them down, grab them mid-sprint and stop them from powering the generators. In Bird society, nothing earns status faster than a successful hunt.

Death Is Not the End

In Pecking Order, getting eaten doesn’t mean game over - it means switching sides.

Snatched as a worm? You respawn as a bird, louder, prouder and ready to hunt your former teammates and stop them from extracting.

Berries with Benefits

Some berries power generators. Others send players flying.

Grab explosive berries to knock birds off their dive, launch a rival into a hazard or buy yourself just enough space to escape.

Nature Is Your Playground

Every map is packed with bounce pads, hazards and ridiculous physics moments.

Leap, hide, and scramble through chaotic outdoor arenas where nothing (and no one) plays fair.

Show Off Your Style

Birds chase status. Worms chase power. But we all chase fashion.

Unlock cosmetics, emotes and achievements and show off your slimy style or feathered flair when you reach the top.

Play with (and against) Friends

Jump into Quickplay, form private lobbies with up to 16 players or queue as a party with up to 4 friends.
