About This Game

Hopetown Key Art with the protagonist and flying pigeons

"Wlcome, Flashwriter" Header

You are a journalist in a world reset after The Flare, a coronal mass ejection that wiped out global communications decades ago, ushering a new dark age called The Hush. Investigate a mystery set in the island town of New Greenwich. Deploy words as weapons and choose between three distinct writing styles: investigative, sensationalist, or vogue. Define your character's background including your gender and style of journalism: play as a pencil-pushing Correspondent, a hyper-opinionated Columnist, or a clickbait slinging Gonzo.  Harvest truth or sell lies - whatever it takes to make the front page.

"From Some Of The Team Behind Disco Elysium" HeaderAmongst Hopetown’s creators are some of the amazing talent that made Disco Elysium a reality, with the combined efforts of Martin Luiga, Veljo Hagu, Olga Moskvina, Piotr Sobolewski, and Lenval Brown.

"Deep Dialogues Driven by 21 Skills, Backed By 7 Personas" Header

Define your style of journalism with a robust set of skills and personas. Be an iron-fisted fashionista, an unseen spectre of secrets, or a brooding sleuth. An armoury of combinations are at your disposal, allowing you to role play as the journalist you want to be. Each skill’s voice is a sharpening tool to help you craft your own.

"Gather Observations, Interviews, And Evidence" Header

Use numerous methods of persuasion to acquire interviews from NPCs for that story-breaking quote, take indisputable photographs to discover clues and evidence, and gather observations in your trusty notebook to untangle a mass web of narrative threads. Or skip the hard work and dust off an old photo and make up a quote if you think a lie will sell better.

"Put The Facts Together and Publish Your Story" HeaderYou have everything you need, now it’s time to light the fuse. Choose your evidence, push your angle, and utilise your chosen style of writing to elicit big changes in a large, politically charged open-world. Characters, factions, and the world beyond will respond accordingly to every word… so choose what you publish very carefully.

"Explore Entre With Companions" Header

At your side is your trusty, idealistic photographer with an unyielding commitment to The Truth and their craft. You’ll navigate an old mining town - New Greenwich - located along the rain-battered coast of Eastern Entre, capturing hidden truths in a broken world. But beware - a  truthful character might take issue with a journalist who tries to fake evidence for a larger story. Choices like that may require another - a person whose hands are firmly planted in the dirt.

"Uncover The Network" Header

Eastern Entre is one of few locations thriving after The Flare. Power lay vested in those who controlled information, and so rose the Postmasters, an elite force born from those who braved the chaos of the new world to maintain order… until the discovery of Quicksilver by the De Luna Corporation, a new substance that re-enabled limited long distance communication.

Now, a substance few fully understand has granted parts of the world a voice once more, but disputes between the Betweeners, Entre’s toiling mine labourers, and the DLC have reached a boiling point, given attempts by the DLC to implement the new political system of The Alignment to ensure the flow of Quicksilver.
