What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Because "I'll release it when it's perfect" is how indie games disappear forever.

I'm much better at writing C++ than marketing.

Putting Flipper Frenzy into Early Access forced me to stop endlessly tweaking things in private and actually let people play it.

That feedback has been invaluable.

Players have helped shape features, squash bugs, improve multiplayer, and make the game far better than I could have by myself.

There's still plenty left to do—but now I'm building it with the community instead of in a vacuum.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The current goal is to leave Early Access within the next year.

There's still plenty I want to add—more tracks, game modes, features, polish, and quality-of-life improvements—but the finish line is finally in sight.

The goal has never been to stay in Early Access forever. I want Flipper Frenzy to become a complete, polished game that people can keep coming back to.

If it takes a little longer, it'll be because I'm adding meaningful improvements—not because I'm trying to stretch out development.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Flipper Frenzy already has the core racing experience in place, but there's still plenty to improve before leaving Early Access.

Planned

🦭 More Tracks
More unique environments, mechanics, shortcuts, hazards, and surprises. Every track should feel distinct.

🦭 More Playable Seals
More species with new customization options to expand your collection.

🦭 More Polish, Stability & Optimization
Improved visuals, smoother gameplay, better performance, bug fixes, networking improvements, and quality-of-life updates across the entire game.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Physics-Based Racing – Flop, slide, bounce, galumph, and torpedo through land and water using movement built specifically for seals.
🌎 12 Completely (Mostly) Different Tracks – From haunted amusement parks and frozen glaciers to giant sky tubes, tropical islands, flooded cities, and more.
🌐 Online & Local Multiplayer – Race online with matchmaking and Elo rankings, or challenge friends in split-screen.
⏱️ Time Trials & Ghost Replays – Race against your best runs and climb the leaderboard.
🎨 Deep Seal Customization – Mix species, fur, markings, and colors to create your perfect (or horrifying) seal.
🦭 A Growing Seal Roster – Harbor, Harp, Ringed, Ribbon, and more to come.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Flipper Frenzy was initially free during the earliest stage of Early Access to build a community and gather feedback.

As the game has grown, it now has a modest Early Access price that reflects the amount of content available today—while still offering great value.

The price will increase when Flipper Frenzy leaves Early Access and reaches its full release.

If you jump in now, you'll get the game at its best Early Access value and receive all future updates along the way.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I’m a solo developer, so every bug report, suggestion, and "what if you did this" comment actually matters. I’m in the forums, on Steam discussions, and I’m paying attention.

There’s no marketing team, no "engagement specialist," and no "Director of Live Services"—just me. If you have an idea for a track, a seal, or a wild game mode, I’m listening. I may not do all of them, but if it’s a good idea, I’ll probably steal it.”

About This Game

It's a racing game. With seals

That's the pitch.

No chosen one.
No ancient prophecy.
No open world with 400 collectibles.

Just eight extremely determined aquatic potatoes trying to reach the finish line first.

On land you'll belly flop, bounce, slide, roll, and desperately fight gravity.

The second you hit water...

...you're suddenly a torpedo.

Learning when to swim, slide, jump, bounce, and galumph is the entire game.

It's surprisingly competitive.

Race However You Flop

  • Single Player Cups

  • Time Trials with Ghost Replays

  • Split-screen couch multiplayer (like the good old days)

  • Online multiplayer with matchmaking and Elo rankings

  • Public & private lobbies

  • Steam invites

Play seriously.

Play casually.

Or spend twenty minutes trying to convince your friend the physics are "totally fair."

12 Completely (Mostly) Different Tracks

No copy-pasted grass track.

No "grass track, but now it's snow."

Every course is built around its own mechanics, shortcuts, flow, and personality.

Race through:

  • Haunted amusement parks

  • Frozen loop-de-loops

  • Tropical islands

  • Flooded city streets

  • Giant sky tubes

  • Foggy coastlines

  • Sewer systems

  • Icy glaciers

...and several places that probably violated multiple building codes.

If two tracks feel the same...

I've failed.

Build Your Seal

Customize:

  • Species

  • Fur

  • Colors

  • Markings

Become:

  • Majestic

  • Terrifying

  • Adorable

...or accidentally make something that looks like radioactive cheese.

No judgment.

Early Access

It's growing.

Every update adds more tracks, polish, features, fixes, and usually one new bug I swear wasn't there yesterday.

Recent updates added Ghost Replays, online matchmaking, Elo rankings, lobby chat, new tracks, visual upgrades, multiplayer improvements, and an unhealthy number of physics tweaks because apparently seals are complicated.

There's still plenty more to come.

No Battle Pass.

No Premium Fish Coins.

No login streaks.

No FOMO.

No popup asking if you'd like to purchase the Deluxe Ultra Legendary Sardine Bundle™.

You buy the game.

You play the game.

Somehow this became controversial.

One Guy Made This

Programming. (99% C++ no Blueprints here.)

Art. (No asset flips. Okay... maybe the occasional splash effect. I'm only human.)

Animation. (I provide my own premium-grade jank.)

Level Design.

UI. (It's all 3D. I regret nothing.)

Networking. (Held together with duct tape, optimism, and an unreasonable number of RPCs.)

Lighting. (I use Lumen. Deal with it.)

Audio. (I don't make the music. I just mix it.)

Debugging. (I try.)

So...

It's a racing game.

With seals.

That should be enough.
