About This Game

Welcome to the Hermes Library. This is the main library of the Hephaestus University, the most famous university in the United Nation of Europa. As a junior named Rainn Echo, you will become the new librarian working at the front desk. While performing your daily duties, you will also witness several mysterious incidents there.

【How to Become a Capable Librarian】

Your daily duty is to help students, faculty members, and alumni to check out and return books. During the process, you will need to check, based on the library’s rules, every reader’s records. When the reader wants to check out a book, you should see if they have used their own ID card, if they have checked out more than they should, if they have returned everything on time. When the reader wants to return a book, you should see if the book has been returned before its due date.

You will have two shifts every day: in the morning and in the afternoon. In your interactions with readers, you will also learn about their lives.

Check-out: the reader needs to provide their ID and the book they want to borrow. The first step of check-out is to use the scanner on the ID card. The information of the reader will appear on the screen on the right. You need to check the information and make sure that they are using their own ID and they have the authorization to borrow. Then you can press the “APPROVE” button on the bottom of the screen, type in the title of the checked-out book and the due date.Then you can give the printed receipt along with the ID and the now-checked-out book to the reader.

Return: the reader doesn’t need to be present in person to return their books. Anyone can simply come and drop the books off. The first step of the return process is to scan the book at the book return slot. Then the information of the book will appear on the screen on the right. You will need to check if the return date has exceeded the due date. If the book is overdue, you will need to calculate and issue a fine slip accordingly.

The news bulletin board is updated daily to bring you the latest information about important incidents. It also advertises for interesting events on and off campus. A variety of clubs and student organizations also put their description and recruitment information here. From here, you can experience the joy of campus life.

【Hidden Messages in Books】

As you handle many books at the front desk, you will find hidden information in some of them. By collecting what you may find in the books, you will uncover the truth behind the incidents happening at the university. Maybe you will also get to know some special people as well.

Hephaestus University experienced several abnormal incidents since the beginning of this term: a certain award-winning professor is rumored to act inappropriately towards his students? A philosophy PhD student died under suspicious circumstances in the summer? And, body parts preserved in labs were repeatedly stolen by an unknown party? Is there any truth in the rumor? Did the PhD student commit suicide or was there a killer on campus? What is the goal of the culprit who stole dead bodies? Different arguments and theories are passed around in the Hermes Library in silence, but they also fuel passionate debates. Collect pieces of information from notes hidden in books and help the detective and the reporter find the truth behind these incidents.

There are also special people whose words left in their notes have resonated with you. You may choose to continue having conversations with them. Maybe you will develop new and profound relationships this way.

【Enter a World of Steam Punk】

During every lunch break, you can take a break with your best friend Lilith Puck at the Cafe in the Hermes Library and talk about the news of the day. Every weekend, as the librarian on break, you can go and experience different activities with your friend: parade, club fair, exhibition...... All novelties and innovations from the steam punk world.
