About This Game

Skyfarm: A Post-Apocalyptic Rooftop Garden Simulator

It's been ten years since the great flood destroyed everything. The entire city is submerged, with water reaching up to the third floor, never receding. The famine that followed led to the rise of Skyfarms on the rooftops, producing just enough food for the city's survivors. You are unauthorized, tasked with working this garden using everything at your disposal. You receive food and necessities through various machines. Occasionally, a drone lands by the water tank, replacing the box with spare parts, new seeds, or plants. As you lean over the railing, you can hear the water far below in the fog and wonder what it will be like once you’ve earned your citizenship in the community below.

But you are not alone in this task. Together with a cute cat and a community of helpful Skyfarmers on other buildings, you can make the rooftop your home and create a cozy, beautiful garden.

Permaculture Principles in Action

Skyfarm is inspired by permaculture—a sustainable, self-sufficient gardening approach. Use permaculture strategies to:

  • Observe & Interact: Work with natural cycles.

  • Catch & Store Energy: Conserve resources to reduce waste.

  • Obtain a Yield: Grow and harvest food to trade.

  • Apply Self-Regulation: Cultivate adaptable systems.

  • Produce No Waste: Reuse and recycle everything.

  • Value Diversity: Promote biodiversity for resilience.

  • Respond to Change: Innovate as you grow.

Grow a Thriving Rooftop Garden:
Tend to a diverse ecosystem of plants with unique growth cycles, seasonal needs, and soil requirements. Balance water, light, and soil quality to ensure a healthy harvest, managing every aspect of this rooftop oasis to produce food and increase biodiversity.

Trade Your Harvest:
Sell your crops for localCoin, craft supplies, and rare plants. Meet the needs of your high-rise community and unlock new building plans, tools, and plant species as rewards.

Craft and Decorate:
Turn your rooftop farm into a cozy garden retreat. Use crafting materials to build garden structures, decorations, and functional elements, creating a beautiful sanctuary in the post-apocalyptic skyline.

Join the Community:
Connect with other Skyfarmers to exchange seeds, tools, and advice. Your journal keeps track of species and biomes, with hand-drawn sketches and tips for expanding your ecosystem.

Increase Biodiversity:
Discover new plant species and biomes to enhance your garden’s resilience. Trade rare finds with the community and track your collection in a journal, expanding your Skyfarm's biodiversity.

Manage Essential Resources:
Balance water, energy, and soil regeneration to keep your farm sustainable. Adapt to changing conditions and harness renewable resources for a thriving ecosystem.

Companionship:
Befriend a cat who joins you on this journey, bringing warmth and comfort as you cultivate your rooftop paradise.
