Hanabi

A 2D platformer where you adventure with weapons called Hanabi, inspired by fireworks. Since fireworks are the motif, it’s bound to be a peaceful game...right?

The game features 45 Hanabi, each with its own range, damage, blast radius, and knockback. Learning which Hanabi to use for different terrain and enemies is the first step toward becoming a Hanabi master.

By the way, the Japanese word “hanabi” combines the words for “flower” and “fire.” All 45 Hanabi in this game are modeled on real plants. A game that teaches you about plants too? How academic!

Roguelite Platformer

This platformer combines classic platforming with a roguelite system. Terrain, enemies, Hanabi, and recovery and upgrade items are procedurally generated, so each run brings a different challenge.

Permadeath, a roguelite staple, is still present. When you get a Game Over, you lose all your upgrades and are sent back to the hub. That said, if you prostrate yourself before a boss, it might let you practice...?

Animalia

The game is set in Animalia, a world where animals live in a civilized society. Hanaby and Fusey, two squirrel pyrotechnicians, hit it off and start filming a collaboration video.

But shortly after, Fusey’s smartphone turns to stone. Other modern conveniences soon turn to stone as well. If their hometown suddenly reverted to the Stone Age, even squirrels wouldn’t stay quiet! They set off on an adventure to restore their world to normal, heading for a shady dinosaur TV station.

“AAAA” Music

The game’s music is composed by AAAA, a composer known for a poppy style. If you like the music, consider picking up the soundtrack, available separately, and enjoying the world of Respark outside the game.

Demo

Try the free demo, which features 18 Hanabi and lets you play Worlds 1, 4, and 7. Please note that saving is not supported in the demo.
