I. ORIENTATION: CONTEXT & STANDARDS

Due to spiking levels of Static activity, the Essential Services Coordination (ESC) has issued immediate lockdown protocols for this sector. Your team has been sent to contain the paranormal breach zone.

Your presence at the site is strictly confidential and necessary to keep The Static at bay. Follow ESC protocol precisely to prevent public hysteria.

II. THE PROTOCOL: ASYMMETRIC CO-OP

Missions require analytical coordination across two distinct roles:

• Field Agents: Deploy directly into the active event zone. Use agency-issued tools to find and suppress traces of The Static, and observe how the Entity reacts to understand its character.

• The Operator: Stationed within the operational Safe Room. Monitor team vitals, track general threat levels, view live security camera feeds, and manipulate local building systems to assist the team. Keep communication clear; cutting the lights or triggering environmental overrides can easily be confused with actual paranormal activity.

ESC Mission Protocols:

• Protocol 01 - Experiment & Observe: The Entity does not follow a manual; it actively monitors and reacts to your noise, light usage, and movement. Conduct calculated, observation-based experiments to understand its hidden rules.

• Protocol 02 - Calculated Infringements: Following the rules keeps you alive, but it will not close the Breach. To discover the Entity's true identity and initiate containment, your team must strategically trigger paranormal events by breaking Its rules.

• Protocol 03 - Entering The Static: Elimination does not mean end of mission. Downed agents are cast into the paranormal dimension called The Static. Remaining active participants, you must interact with environmental anomalies to assist - or accidentally terrify - their surviving teammates.

III. POST-MISSION ANALYSIS: SYSTEMIC RECOVERY

Between active missions, your team returns to ESC Headquarters to manage meta-progression, analyze empirical data, and prepare for the next deployment:

• The Archives: File recovered data, analyze collected clues, and catalog paranormal anomalies within the secure ESC database.

• Detective’s Desk: Claim your personal office space. Monitor operational resources, track progression milestones, and display hard-earned artifacts and case clues recovered from field missions.

• Operational Simulation: Access a localized training Breach within Headquarters to calibrate your field equipment and practice basic investigation principles.

• Deductive Data Extraction: Moving beyond binary evidence tools, survival is a cognitive puzzle. Test theories through deliberate behavioral violations, isolate the Entity’s traits, and seal the Breach before the sector is lost.
