What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Launching Rolling Thunder: Vietnam into Early Access allows us to develop the extensive features and content we’ve envisioned without compromising on quality. We are committed to a community-first approach, and Early Access is the perfect way to build trust and engagement with our players.

By choosing Early Access, we’re creating a platform where the community can have a direct impact on the game's development. Your feedback will help shape the future of Rolling Thunder: Vietnam, and we promise to be responsive and open to player suggestions while staying true to the game’s historical setting.

We believe that by working together with our community, we can deliver the best possible experience. We’re excited to build the game with you, not just for you.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our roadmap to 1.0 is dependant on these core features being finished:

  • Minimum 64 player server capacity
  • All vehicle types integrated: Land Vehicles, Boats, Helicopters and Jets
  • 2 standard game modes completed.
  • 3 factions: USA, NVA & Vietcong

Based on how successful the team is at scaling up with the funding Early Access offers us, we hope to have these features done within 1-2 years of going into Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The starting point for Rolling Thunder: Vietnam is planned to focus on a scaled down infantry centric experience, which we aim to refine before considering the addition of more complex vehicle-based systems in future updates.

We anticipate that infantry combat will remain a central aspect of what makes the game engaging, while future updates may include a broader array of vehicles and combat elements to enhance the battlefield experience.

As we progress through Early Access, our goal is to work toward implementing these systems, although timelines and specifics may evolve based on development feedback:

  • Combined Arms: Land Vehicles, Boats, Helicopters, Jets
  • Robust friends features that allow players to easily play with their friends.
  • Clan system, a place for both friends and strangers to form larger and stronger communities both in and out of the game, as well as enable a more structured competitive element to our game.
  • Customization and progression, we want to enable the players to immerse themselves into the history and style of the Vietnam war. We aim to use this approach to support the ongoing development of the game, ensuring it remains player-focused and avoids exploitative practices.
Our intention is to keep any cosmetics inspired by real-world references, aiming for them to remain contextual to the historical setting.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“A fully functional prototype including Conquest gamemode, 2 Factions, 1 Mainlevel, a variety of infantry weapons and vehicles including helicopters. Functional Serverbrowser and Steam integration.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to offer a lower price during Early Access as a gesture of appreciation to players who provide valuable feedback and help shape the game’s development.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We primarily plan to utilize Discord as the platform for obtaining feedback and exchanging information with our community.”
