We’re building something we would like to exist, a bridge between Chess and General Wargames. Early Access lets us shape that experience alongside our community. We want real player feedback as we hone the core systems, balance the units, and ensure that every moment in the game feels just right before expanding into deeper progression systems and larger game features.

For the full release we plan to work on an overarching war that you and the online community will directly effect with a wider world with more biomes, enemies, and story telling.

During Early Access, we’re focusing on:

The core gameplay loop: Selecting and Army roster, going into battle, earning in game currency to customise and gather more units for more varied armies.

Balancing armies to make it feel fair across the board.

Working on a player vs AI campaign with a short story for each launch faction.

Creating a world map that players can effect by playing the game.

Having a dynamic system that can allow players to chose maps and game modes to play against friends or AI bots.

Early Access is all about getting the game to feel fair and balanced above all else, we would hate to release with broken mechanics that players feel are unfair and ruin the game..

Our core goal is to bridge the gap from playing Chess, to playing a Wargame and as such, we have created game systems that derive from chess (Grid locked Queen style movements), but incorporate simple mechanics you might find in tabletop Wargames (Like moving your entire army in your turn). In doing this, players who know the basic rules of Chess can jump in and just play without the hassle of a 300 page rulebook.

So step into the battlefields of Realms at War, a chess-inspired turn-based strategy game where every move can shift the tide of battle. Choose from a wide array of unique fantasy factions, each with unique units, abilities, and playstyles.

Whether you face off against cunning players in PvP or test your skills against AI in PvE, no two games are the same. Rogue-like elements add fresh challenges each run, as the equipment and units you bring to the tabletop shape your tactics and outcomes.
