Why Early Access?

“Hello and welcome !

I'm Mamat, a true passionate gamer and a new French game developer on Unreal Engine 5, and I present to you my first game : Shades !

These last few years many FPS were not really satisfying me, so I decided to make one by myself with all my ideas and my perspective of a truly immersive first-person game, which means no or minimum HUD/menus or camera effects and things popping up to your eyes, like in real life, and be really free to do whatever you want in dense and beautiful environments, no invisible walls, many destructions possible and no body block for example, using different ways to complete the objectives and find solutions to problems by yourself, no backseating, minimap or floating arrows/pings, and with that all the latest hardware and software technologies available on PC to have the most realistic graphics and physics for the best immersion possible.

I'm making this game first to gain experience (so please be indulgent), and to start a portfolio in game development, then hopefully in the future to change from my actual job to my dream job : being a game developer, or even better, create my own game studio, which really listen his community and who you can trust and rely on, to make all our dream games for all of us, I have so many ideas !

So based on your support, i hope this early access will give me the time and resources to make all this happen.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It will depend on the support you give me, but I'm hoping for 1 year or 2 years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“All along the development of the game, I plan to get it better optimized and to add more missions, more maps and environments, more weapons, explosives, utilities and gadgets, new mechanics, gameplays and vehicles, more customizations on loadouts, characters, vehicles and homes/lobbies, many destruction possibilities and physical interactions, a better AI with AI allies, a cool horror gamemode, many emotes and minigames, and an old school skin system based on merit and grinding, not just real money.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“For now the game may not very optimized, so you will surely need a good and recent PC for the best experience (you can check the system requirements below), it may also lacks some content and functionalities, so be aware before buying then leaving a bad review please.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes the price will gradually increase as the game develops, so the earlier you buy it, the more you will save !”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Since I'm new in game development and all by myself for now, I will take as much time possible to read and consider a maximum of all your suggestions, bugs reports and fixes to do, to improve my game and myself as much as possible.

Currently implemented in the game, there are 3 different maps : home/lobby + training base/test mission + first mission, with simple AI enemies, a money/level system, 10 customizable weapons : sniper rifle, revolver, 2 assault rifles, 2 SMGs, 2 shotguns, 2 handguns + 3 grenades : fragmentation, flash and smoke, several utilities/explosives, an axe, fist fighting and a push/kick/ragdoll system.

All along the development of the game, I plan to get it better optimized and to add more missions, more maps and environments, more weapons, explosives, utilities and gadgets, new mechanics, gameplays and vehicles, more customizations on loadouts, characters, vehicles and homes/lobbies, many destruction possibilities and physical interactions, a better AI with AI allies, a cool horror gamemode, many emotes and minigames, and an old school skin system based on merit and grinding, not just real money.

Since I'm new in game development and all by myself for now, I will take as much time possible to read and consider a maximum of all your suggestions, bugs reports and fixes to do, to improve my game and myself as much as possible.
