Why Early Access?

“To obtain game-play feedback in order to improve the game, e.g. balancing and feature requests. The campaign missions will need to be completed as well as the manual. Also, there is expected to be bugs.

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“About 4-12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to significantly expand upon the core foundation introduced in Early Access. We aim to enhance every major area of the game based on player feedback and our internal roadmap. Planned additions include:
  • Expanded Campaign Mode: a full-length comic-based story-driven campaign with more missions.
  • Additional Maps: a wider variety of skirmish maps and additional map items.
  • New Units & Abilities: more unit types, and faction-specific abilities for deeper strategic options.
  • UI/UX Polish: improved menus, HUD, controls, and overall accessibility enhancements.
  • AI Improvement: an AI that is a good enough opponent for single player skirmishes.
  • Optimization & Stability: performance improvements, bug fixes, and overall game balance adjustments.
  • Completed Documentation: explaining time travel, units and functionality in detail.
We're committed to shaping the final version in collaboration with the community and will prioritize features that improve both gameplay depth and long-term replayability.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The follow functionality is implemented:
  • Time manipulation, i.e. altering actions in the past and future in the timeline.
  • Time travel, i.e. sending troops into the past or future via time travel.
  • A couple of scenarios for both single and multiplayer.
  • Core AI functionality with the AI being able to do attack and defense.
  • Cross-platform multiplayer over LAN/internet including co-op team and clan games.
  • Troops including infantry, tanks, jets, helicopters, airships, warships, submarines and more.
  • Factions each with their own technologies including stealth, laser and shields.
  • Day-night cycles, rain, wind and solar flare activity.
  • Map editor and a central server to host and distribute player-modded maps.
  • High scores, playing statistics and multiplayer ELO-ranking.
  • Music and sound effects.

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

About This Game

Chrono Commander takes a fresh approach to real-time strategy (RTS) games by incorporating time travel as a core mechanic, allowing players to command armies across the timeline. While it retains many of the RTS genre’s elements such as base building, resource management, and tactical battles, its time travel mechanic adds a unique challenge. Chrono Commander blends traditional strategy elements with the ability to rewrite the course of battles.

One of the game’s strengths lies in its ability to balance both single-player and multiplayer experiences. The single-player campaign features a comic-based story that immerses you in a world where various factions collide. Each faction offers a distinct play-style with their own specialized technology, ranging from crude tech to futuristic units.

  • Time-Travel: Lead your armies across multiple timelines, altering the past, present, and future to gain the upper hand. Experience alternate realities and the grandfather paradox.

  • Story Campaign: Engage in a rich campaign where factions from various backgrounds clash. Each faction comes with its own unique strengths and technologies.

  • Single & Multiplayer: Challenge the AI in solo matches or take the fight online with friends in cross-platform multiplayer matches. Play in co-op mode and face off in competitive ranked matches, complete with awards and ratings.

  • Play Modes: Beyond standard skirmishes, participate in missions like survival, capture the flag, and battle royale.

  • Structures & Troops: Battle across land, sea, and air with units, including tanks, drones, mechs and alien crafts. Specialized units like time-portals, cloaking devices, EMP and nukes add variety to the battlefield.

  • Research: Unlock advanced technology by researching time-based abilities, and specialized troops and structures.

  • Modding: Customize your experience with the in-game map editor, allowing for player-modded maps, campaigns, and even new units and factions. Mod every aspect of the game, from visuals to sound effects.

Each faction in Chrono Commander comes with its own set of technologies and units.

  • GRA Technology: gives access to stealth and cloaking. Included are cloaked agents and spies as well as bombers with EMP and nuclear weapons.

  • ELC Technology: provides robots, airships and robo dogs. Available also are a mechanic and heavy airlift. Can build stationary EMP-field generators.

  • IDB Technology: provides hovertanks, drones including EMP-field drones and drones equipped with napalm weapons. Can build fusion generators for power.

  • Mayan Technology: consists of decoy capabilities. Included are hologram tanks, transformers, dogs and dolphins. Can build portals.

  • Ancient Technology: provides shields, EMP soldiers, assimilators and napalm tanks. Can build matter fabricators.

  • Alien Technology: provides alien crafts, specialized in PSY and EMP. Builds mobile factories.

No DRM: There is no DRM in the game. You don't need to connected to the internet to play single player games or the campaign. You don't need to be logged in to play LAN games either. You don't need to login either for WAN games (locally hosted games over the internet), but you will have to work out your router settings and do the appropriate port-forwarding so your friends can connect from remote.
