Why Early Access?

“Rootwood Ranch brings together crafting, animal taming, farming, exploration and cooperative combat. The core systems are implemented, and we want to improve how they work together through player feedback. Early Access will help us refine progression, balance, usability and the cooperative experience through playtesting.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We have not set a firm date for leaving Early Access. The timing will depend on playtesting, the remaining development work and feedback on the game's stability and progression.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan to focus on a more polished and balanced experience, with improvements to building artwork, attack animations, navigation and the interface. We also intend to refine progression and cooperative play. The scope of further changes may evolve based on playtesting and player feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current build includes solo play and cooperative play for up to four players, resource gathering, crafting, construction, animal taming and animal helpers. Players can expand their land, grow crops, fish, furnish a house and develop their equipment and skills.

Five biomes are implemented, along with puzzles, underground dungeons, bosses, day and night, weather, quests and achievements. Balance, artwork, animations and some navigation behaviors are still being refined. Steam invitations still require additional testing across separate accounts.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Our pricing plans for the full release have not yet been finalized. We will communicate any planned price changes ahead of time.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to use the Steam Community discussions to collect bug reports, suggestions and feedback on progression, balance and cooperative play. Player feedback will help us prioritize improvements, and we intend to share development updates and explain significant changes as the game evolves.”

About This Game

Rootwood Ranch is a top-down action crafting game for 1–4 players where wild animals become part of your growing homestead. Gather resources, tame woodland creatures, build workshops and venture into dangerous lands, alone or with friends.

Tame your own woodland workforce

Win animals’ trust with their favorite bait and give them a home. Put gatherers to work collecting resources, raise animals in pens for useful products, or bring a fighter along to help you face the wilderness. Your gatherers grow more experienced as they work.

Build, craft and expand

Chop wood, mine ore and turn raw materials into tools, weapons and armor. Build workshops, queue crafting orders and buy new plots to make room for your next project. Unlock skills that open up new buildings, recipes and ways to develop your ranch.

Grow a life between adventures

Plant crops, keep them watered and turn your harvest into meals with useful effects. Cast a fishing line, set nets and process your catch. Build and furnish a house, then connect your homestead with roads, fences, lanterns and gardens.

Explore beyond the meadow

Push into the hills, the frozen north, the swamp and the dead forest. Discover new resources and rare animals, solve puzzles and descend into dark root burrows filled with mazes, treasure and bosses. Craft stronger equipment and prepare food and potions for the dangers ahead.

Share the work and the adventure

Play solo or team up with up to three friends. Build together, trade items and take on bosses as a group. Spend a day tending the ranch, then gear up and head underground together.
