What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Swords and Cavalry combines army command with fighting alongside your troops. We want players to help shape how these two parts work together as development continues. Early Access will let us gather feedback on the feel of combat, troop balance, army controls, and the clarity of the interface. That feedback will help us decide which improvements to prioritize and test changes in real player battles.

The game is still in development. Players should expect bugs, changing balance, and unfinished features, and should judge their purchase by the content available in the current build.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect the game to remain in Early Access for approximately three years after the Early Access launch. This estimate may change based on development progress and player feedback. During this period, we plan to improve performance and multiplayer stability, refine combat and army command, and expand the variety of the battle experience.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan for the full version to provide a more polished battle experience, with improvements to combat, AI behavior, troop balance, army controls, and the interface. We also aim to expand battlefield variety and army composition options as development progresses. A major focus is improving frame-rate stability and multiplayer connection reliability. These are development goals, and their scope and priority may change based on testing and community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current version includes multiplayer battles and single-player battles against AI on one procedurally generated battle map. Players can muster an army with infantry, archers, and cavalry, command troop groups, and fight alongside their soldiers, including on horseback.

Known limitations include frame-rate issues and multiplayer disconnects that can interrupt play. Performance and connection stability need further work, and the current map selection is limited to the single procedural map. Combat, balance, and the interface are also still being developed. Customers should purchase based on this current content and these limitations.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to raise the price after full release. We plan to communicate pricing changes in advance through Steam announcements so players can make an informed decision.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We plan to collect bug reports, gameplay feedback, and suggestions through the Steam discussion forums and our Discord community, linked on the store page. We are particularly interested in feedback on combat, troop balance, army controls, and usability. Reports describing what happened and how to reproduce an issue will help us investigate problems.

We plan to share development updates and patch notes through Steam announcements and use player feedback to help prioritize improvements. We cannot implement every suggestion, but we want feedback from actual play to inform the game's development.”

About This Game

Customize your character, develop your skills, and choose your equipment. Recruit infantry, archers, and cavalry, command your formations, and fight alongside your soldiers on foot or horseback with directional melee combat, archer volleys, and cavalry charges.

Build and visit your settlement, support it through farming and mining, and talk to your villagers.

Built on a custom Vulkan engine and in development for Early Access. Performance, multiplayer stability, and game balance are still being improved.
