Welcome to Proverbial!

You just got hired as a monkey in a monkey office where you type on typewriters to spell words. As you progress you will hire monkeys to help you collect words. As you and your monkey underlings type words you gain points. Points can be spent on upgrades, items, and abilities. Words you find are worth more points depending on if it is your first time finding them and how long the words are. Words can also be a part of collections.

Collections

Collections have different categories. The categories are Themes, Quotes, Proverbs, Passages, and Hapax Legomenon. As you collect words you will fill out your collection book, when a collection is complete you will earn skill points. So you want to collect as many words from as many collections as possible. You might be wondering what a Hapax Legomenon is. Those are special words that only appear a single time in a work of literature. These are super rare words that are worth a large amount of skill points if you manage to complete one of their collections.

Upgrades

The upgrades in Proverbial range from increasing the number of keys each of your monkeys type per second to teaching your monkeys which letters often follow other letters. Anything to give you and your monkeys and advantage.

Items

As you progress through the game you will unlock the ability to purchase items. These grant you permanent bonuses to the amount of points you gain.

Abilities

There are multiple abilities that you can purchase and use whenever you see fit. These are very powerful and each of them can only be used so often. You can upgrade their potency, duration, and reduce their cooldown. These are very important for earning as many points as possible.
