Why Early Access?

“Until now, we've always published the beta releases for free, and we'll continue to do so on our website, but it is clear that with the scale the project has reached, and interest it has garnered, many are expecting a more main stream experience that Steam can provide.

So in the spirit of giving access to the project to as many people as possible, staying true to our academic ideals, and financing the growth of the project, we decided to take this dual approach!

The community has always been at the helm of this project, and the Steam early access program aligns with this perspective by adding the Steam community to the discussion.

Launching Early Access is also representative of where we view the game's current state.
We have a very ambitious roadmap and a lot that we want to add. You can expect incredibly heavy changes between each release.

This is just the beginning, we're building the most complex Artificial Life Simulation ever!”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“The Bibites is expected to be in Early Access for the next 3 years. It is dependent on changes to the project's roadmap and growth of the development team.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Full release would indicate that all planned underlying systems are stable and well balanced.

It is unclear what the full version will ultimately include but this list of additional features are planned:

• Bibite Editor

• Sexual Reproduction

• Multithreading, performance optimization

• A completely new Evolutionary Algorithm powering the simulation

• Environment Diversity and Complexity (biomes)

• Plant Evolution

We expect to continue support and development long after the full version is released.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable in its current state. While in early access, you can expect some updates to break save files from previous versions. We will try our best to rebalance between versions as much as possible.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price on Steam is expected to increase over time to reflect the increase in content that is offered.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Community feedback and input is tremendously valuable to us. We regularly engage with our community through our Youtube channel, discord community page and other social media platforms.

We hope to incorporate feedback from the Steam audience as well.”
