So in the spirit of giving access to the project to as many people as possible, staying true to our academic ideals, and financing the growth of the project, we decided to take this dual approach!

The community has always been at the helm of this project, and the Steam early access program aligns with this perspective by adding the Steam community to the discussion.

Launching Early Access is also representative of where we view the game's current state.
We have a very ambitious roadmap and a lot that we want to add. You can expect incredibly heavy changes between each release.

This is just the beginning, we're building the most complex Artificial Life Simulation ever!”

“The Bibites is expected to be in Early Access for the next 3 years. It is dependent on changes to the project's roadmap and growth of the development team.”

“Full release would indicate that all planned underlying systems are stable and well balanced.

It is unclear what the full version will ultimately include but this list of additional features are planned:

• Sexual Reproduction

• A completely new Evolutionary Algorithm powering the simulation

• Environment Diversity and Complexity (biomes)

• Plant Evolution

“The game is fully playable in its current state. The full list of features available in Early Access are described in the "About Section" below. We will keep the "About Section" up to date as more features are added.

While in early access, you can expect some updates to break save files from previous versions. We will try our best to rebalance between versions as much as possible.”
