What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We're developing this openly and transparently, sharing regular updates as a way to engage and reward new players for joining our community. As part of this, we are encouraging players to have an active part in the creative feedback process.
As a short, simple, minimalist game, Dream of the Star Haven is perfectly suited to making rapid changes based on player feedback”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“2 years”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The core gameplay mechanics will remain the focus, and we'll aim to simply build on those - adding more levels, and more puzzle mechanics as we go, but always intending to keep the game as simple and accessible as possible. Once we hit our target amount of levels and hours-of-gameplay, we'll then focus on polishing the best qualities!”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“All the features listed in the "About This Game" section are fully implemented including rich 1st person traversal, the core giant-leap gameplay, the gravity-rotation mechanic, 2.5D platforming minigames, and sokoban puzzles.

Approximately one-third of the game is complete and playable as fully realized levels. As a short-to-medium-length indie game, we're keeping the scope simple and so we're aiming for the completed version to be around 10-15 hours long (including all secrets and collectibles)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We've already transitioned from a free to a paid game, and plan on one additional small price increase at the end of early access”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our Discord server here will be the primary way our community can communicate to us and with each other, and we'll be uploading updates to the game approximately weekly, and chatting about them with the Discord community - including hearing their feedback, feature requests, etc”

About This Game

You wake up nowhere, with no body.

In fact, less than that,

You feel all the different parts of yourself have been torn away and thrown to the wind.

You stand and look ahead,

Not even knowing how you're standing without a form.

Before you is a beautiful haven, but you're no fool, you know a gilded cage when you see one.

Time to pull yourself together.

What, or Who, is the Star Haven?

After the events of After Light Fades, the alchemist Aura was left devastated. Sniffing out her shadowy vulnerability across space and time, the cosmic parasite Star Haven swallowed her up into its world of illusion.

Star Haven dismembered Aura's being – her hands, feet, eyes, mind and heart – and cast them away, and now it slowly digests its host with serene detachment as she struggles to re-member herself.

Upon waking inside Star Haven, and being ever the masterful alchemist, Aura condenses her last remaining mana into a time node, to set up a time loop as a last resort for her perilous search for a way to escape this dreamy illusion.

Gameplay

Dream of the Star Haven is a 1st person giant-leap platformer with a side-scrolling 2.5D platformer and a sokoban puzzler nested inside its time-loop structure (time-loop gameplay coming soon in early access).

A unique hybrid of exploration, puzzling and combat - a magical odyssey through the being known as Star Haven, where you soar gracefully and eventually even bend gravity itself to your will, giving you the power to literally turn the dreamlike world upside-down in search of the missing parts of yourself and a way out of the illusory parasitic world of Star Haven.

At each repeat of the time-loop, learn what is lost and what is kept, and strategise your own non-linear way forward, to eventually confront the great parasite itself and transcend its strange world.

Embrace the joy and melancholy of a strangely harmonious yet subtly twisted journey, as you reach toward a higher dream of the Star Haven!
