Leaving Early Access: 2026

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We are a very small team working on Dire: Flesh and Phobia out of pure passion. This project has been in development for a long time, and Early Access allows us to continue building it in a sustainable way while sharing the experience with players.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our goal is to release the full version around late 2026 or early 2027. Until then, we want to take the time needed to expand the game’s content, refine its mechanics, and fully realize its vision.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version of Dire: Flesh and Phobia will expand and refine the game across all major systems.
We are working on making our maps more unique and recognizable, giving each area its own identity and gameplay feel. Boss fights will be reworked to offer more distinct mechanics and memorable encounters.
We also plan to increase the variety within the battle table.
On the audiovisual side, we are reworking the sound design and completing the effects for monsters and items to strengthen the overall atmosphere and feedback during gameplay.
The PvP mode will receive a major overhaul. Players will be able to choose a starting item and stat at the beginning of a duel, and we plan to introduce progression systems such as player levels, stats, and unlockables.
In addition, we want to create unique models and animations for the strongest cards in the game, making them stand out visually and feel more impactful.
Finally, we are reworking AI abilities and some hero abilities to make them more unique, interesting, and fun to play with and against.
And of course a lot of improvements when it comes to balancing.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version of Dire: Flesh and Phobia already offers a substantial amount of content and a solid core experience.

There are over 110 unique cards to discover and build around, spread across 6 different factions. Players can explore 6 maps, with each run taking them through at least 3 of them, creating varied paths and strategies.

The game also features a range of different shrines and encounters on the map, including arenas, shops, gambling shrines, and more, adding variety and decision-making to each run.

In addition to the singleplayer mode, the game already includes both a cooperative mode and a PvP mode, allowing for different ways to experience the game.

While some visual effects and audio cues for cards are still being improved, the game is already in a solid and playable state. Most importantly, it’s already a lot of fun—and we’re excited to build on that with the community.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“At the moment we think it is better for us and the game to keep the price low. When we release it will get a little bit more expensive. But in general, we think it is better to sell more for less, than less for more.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“As much as possible!

We want to stay closely connected with our community throughout development. You can reach us and follow the project on our Discord server, YouTube channel, Patreon page, and occasional Twitch streams. We also regularly check the Steam community page to stay up to date with your feedback.

We truly encourage you to share your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions. Whether it’s balancing, new features, or things you’d love to see in Dire: Flesh and Phobia—your input helps shape the game.”
