What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“While we've conducted private playtests, Early Access allows us to gather feedback from a much broader community to refine gameplay balance, progression, matchmaking, map flow, and social systems.

Our goal is to work closely with players to shape the game as it grows. Community feedback will help us improve existing features, prioritize quality-of-life improvements, and guide future content updates while ensuring the core gameplay remains tense, fair, and replayable.

Early Access is not being used to discover what game we want to make; we have a clear vision for Mimic. Instead, it allows us to polish and expand that vision alongside an active player community, resulting in a stronger full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We currently expect Mimic to remain in Early Access for approximately 12 months. This timeframe allows us to iterate on player feedback, refine gameplay systems, improve balance and performance, and expand the game's content with additional features, maps, progression, and quality-of-life improvements.

As with any live development project, this timeline may change depending on community feedback and the quality standards we set for the full release. Our priority is to ensure Mimic reaches its full potential rather than adhering to a fixed release date.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Throughout Early Access we plan to expand and refine the game based on community feedback. Planned additions include:

*New maps with unique objectives, hazards, enemies, and gameplay mechanics.
*Additional roles, abilities, equipment, and gameplay modifiers to increase replayability.
*Expanded progression, unlockables, cosmetics, achievements, and long-term player goals.
*More custom game options, allowing players to tailor rules and create unique experiences.
*Additional Twitch and community-focused features to further enhance streamer and viewer interaction.
*New lore, secrets, environmental storytelling, and community-driven mysteries to uncover.
*Ongoing improvements to matchmaking, networking, performance, accessibility, UI, audio, and overall game balance.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version of Mimic contains the complete core gameplay loop and is fully playable online. Players can experience the intended blend of survival horror, social deduction, and asymmetric gameplay while helping us refine the experience through community feedback.

The Early Access version currently includes:

Online multiplayer with support for public matchmaking and private lobbies.
The core playable roles, including the Crew, Mimic, and Agent, each with distinct objectives and playstyles.
Our first fully playable environment with complete gameplay objectives and escape mechanics.
Proximity voice chat to support deception, teamwork, and tense player interactions.
Core progression systems, player statistics, and unlockable rewards.
Custom game settings, allowing players to modify rules and create unique experiences with friends.
Twitch integration that enables viewers to influence gameplay during live streams.
Original soundtrack, environmental storytelling, and discoverable lore.
Ongoing balancing, bug fixes, performance improvements, and quality-of-life updates based on community feedback.

While the game is fully playable and represents the core vision of Mimic, players may encounter bugs, balance adjustments, placeholder content, and features that continue to evolve throughout Early Access. We will release regular updates informed by community feedback as we work toward the full release.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Yes. We plan to offer Mimic at a lower price during Early Access as a thank you to players who join us early and help shape the game's development through their feedback.

As new maps, features, progression systems, content, and overall polish are added throughout Early Access, we expect the price to increase for the full 1.0 release to reflect the expanded scope and value of the game.

Any future price changes will be communicated well in advance through Steam announcements and our community channels.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Our community has been a core part of Mimic's development from the beginning, and we intend to continue that throughout Early Access.

We regularly host playtests where players can try new features before they're released and provide feedback through our Discord server, Steam discussions, and social media. We actively monitor bug reports, gameplay suggestions, balance discussions, and quality-of-life requests to help prioritize future updates.

Development progress will be shared through regular patch notes, development updates, and community posts, giving players visibility into what we're working on and why. We also plan to run polls and discussions on selected features where community input can help shape implementation and priorities.

As a game designed with content creators in mind, we'll continue working closely with streamers and their audiences, using feedback from live gameplay sessions to improve mechanics such as role balance, Twitch integration, custom game options, and replayability.

While we have a clear long-term vision for Mimic, our community will play an important role in refining the experience, identifying issues, and helping us deliver the best possible full release.”

About This Game

WHO IS HUMAN? WHO IS THE MIMIC?

Mimic is an asymmetrical multiplayer social-deduction horror game where teamwork is essential for survival, but your closest ally might be the very thing trying to consume you.

CHOOSE YOUR LOYALTY

Every round, players are assigned secret roles that dictate their win conditions. Will you work for the crew, the corporation, or the hunger?

  • THE CREW: Your goal is simple; repair the ship’s systems and escape. Work together to identify the threat amongst you before it’s too late.

  • THE AGENT: A corporate shadow with a private agenda. You aren’t the monster, but you aren’t a hero either. Sabotage the mission and ensure the survival of the Mimic.

  • THE MIMIC: An evolving biological terror. Blend in, gain their trust, and strike when they are most vulnerable. Change your form and go on the hunt to kill everyone or hide amongst them.

SUSPECT EVERYONE

With no weapons to fight back, you must learn your environment and manipulate the NPC Android hunting you all down.

  • Throw Suspicion: The map's NPC Android is hunting you all down in search for the Mimic. Point out who you suspect and the Android will hunt them down. But be careful; getting an innocent crewmate killed only makes the Mimic’s job easier.

  • Proximity Chat & Paranoia: Use voice communication to coordinate... or to lie. In the darkness, sounds carry, and silence is terrifying.

  • Twitch Chat Integration: Inject a little chaos into your game. Connect your game to Twitch and let your audience also cast their votes to manipulate the Android.

ENDLESS REPLAYABILITY

No two matches are the same. With randomized objectives, secret corporate agendas, and the unpredictable nature of player deception, every game is a fresh descent into madness.

  • Private Lobbies: Play with up to 9 friends for the ultimate "The Thing" style experience.

  • Affixes: Turn on a selection of Affixes to add further chaos to your match. One hit kills? Permanent fire? Invisible Mimics? Remix your game how you see fit.

  • Evolution: As the Mimic, choose how you hunt. Will you pick them off one by one in the vents, or lure the Android to kill them for you.

SYSTEM ADVISORY

The Icarus is failing. The oxygen is low. And one of you isn't what they seem.

Will you survive the Mimic, or will you become its next meal?
