CRYO is a multiplayer co-op survival horror for 1-4 players. You have been deployed by your company to various locations around the Antarctic due to communication issues. What awaits you in these dark, remote regions is far more sinister than a technical fault...

What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“CRYO is in an unfinished and incomplete state. As we develop and release new features for the game, we require player feedback and analytics, to help us continue to build a product that players want. Early Access allows players to buy into an incomplete version of the game and help shape development as we push towards release. We had a lot of success with early access helping shape our previous title, Labyrinthine, and we're hoping to achieve the same for CRYO.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“CRYO will remain in Early Access until we determine the game is fully prepared for official release. Our plans for the Early Access period include expanding the game's core foundation by introducing multiple maps and a variety of monsters. During this phase, we are committed to addressing any major bugs, resolving issues, and thoroughly balancing the gameplay to ensure a high-quality experience. We expect to have the game ready for full release within a year of early access. This would put it roughly at Q4 of 2026.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“During Early Access, CRYO will not feature all planned content. While the core features listed in the 'About This' section of the store page will be present, some may be incomplete. For instance, there may be fewer maps, monsters, and equipment compared to the full release. Certain features such as achievements, easter eggs, and collectibles may also be absent in the Early Access version. As we continue development, we aim to use player feedback to refine systems, introduce new features, and adjust gameplay. By purchasing the Early Access version, you are investing in a work-in-progress that is subject to change based on player input. The full release is planned to offer a more definitive experience, with fewer dramatic changes.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“CRYO is fully playable but currently in an incomplete state. You may encounter bugs that could affect gameplay, as large-scale testing has not yet been conducted. All core features listed on the store page are present in the game, but some may be refined as development progresses.

Right now, we have a single map with another in development, two enemies with their own ai and a plethora of items from music players to motion detectors.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“CRYO will remain the same price post-release.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“At Valko Game Studios, we have a strong track record of being highly engaged with our community, and we plan to continue this approach. We are committed to providing everyone with the opportunity to share their feedback and ideas with us at any time. Our goal is to create games that people truly enjoy. You can join our public discord at https://discord.gg/valkogamestudios to chat with us and other members of the community or use the steam discussion boards.”

About This Game

What is CRYO?

CRYO is a 1–4 player cooperative survival horror game set across isolated facilities in the frozen wastes of Antarctica.

You and your team are technicians working on behalf of ANGENEX, a powerful genetics corporation with research sites scattered throughout the Antarctic Circle.

Your assignments sound simple enough.

Restore communications. Repair critical systems. Recover valuable research. Find out why contact was lost.

But when you arrive, the facilities are abandoned, systems are failing, and something has been left behind.

Terrifying mutated creatures stalk the halls, each hunting in its own way. Some will pursue you relentlessly, while others rely on sound, darkness, patience or the environment around them to catch you off guard.

To survive, you'll need to search for supplies, restore vital equipment, solve objectives and learn what is hunting you before it learns how to find you.

And completing the mission is only half the battle.

You'll still need to find a way out.

The escape might not have room for everyone.

Survive Antarctica

The creature isn't the only thing trying to kill you.

Antarctica is hostile, isolated and unforgiving. Freezing temperatures, dangerous environments and failing equipment can turn even a simple objective into a desperate fight for survival.

Plan ahead before leaving safety, keep vital systems operational and make every journey outside count.

Sometimes the safest route isn't the fastest one.

Something Is Hunting You

CRYO's creatures are driven by an advanced AI system designed to hunt using the world around them.

Monsters can react to movement, sound and environmental cues, forcing you to think carefully about how you navigate each location.

But not every creature hunts in the same way.

Some rely on brute force and aggression. Others stalk from the shadows, investigate disturbances or exploit the environment to get close without being noticed.

The tactics that saved you last time might get you killed on the next deployment.

Learn what you're dealing with.

Adapt.

Survive.

No Two Deployments Play The Same

Every mission introduces uncertainty.

The creature hunting you can change between deployments, objectives are selected and altered each round, equipment appears in different locations and your available escape options may not always be the same.

Items are distributed throughout the environment in logical locations, hidden inside cupboards, drawers, storage areas, offices and locked rooms.

Knowing the map will help.

Knowing exactly what will happen won't.

Complete The Mission

Every location contains a series of primary objectives that must be completed before your team can escape.

Restore damaged systems, locate missing equipment, repair machinery, solve puzzles and explore dangerous areas in order to bring abandoned ANGENEX facilities back online.

Objectives can change between deployments, forcing your team to explore different areas and approach familiar locations in new ways.

The deeper you venture into the facility, the greater the risk.

Find A Way Out

Completing your assignment doesn't mean you're safe.

Each map features multiple possible escape routes, but getting them operational may require additional equipment, repairs or exploration.

Some escapes are safer.

Some are faster.

And some have limited capacity.

When four survivors are running towards an escape built for two, teamwork can suddenly become a lot more complicated.

Built For Co-op

CRYO is designed around 1–4 player cooperative play, while remaining fully playable solo.

Work together to search larger areas, coordinate repairs, watch cameras, share equipment and warn each other when something is coming.

Splitting up may help you complete objectives faster.

It also means nobody will be there when you scream.

Communication, teamwork and quick thinking can make the difference between a clean extraction and a complete disaster.

Tools, Not Guns

You won't always be able to fight what is hunting you.

Instead, CRYO gives you a variety of tools that can help you understand, avoid and manipulate the threats around you.

Use cameras to monitor dangerous areas, motion detectors to track movement, music players to create distractions and other specialist equipment to give your team an advantage.

Some tools can save your life.

Others are only as useful as the person holding them.

How you use them is up to you.

Stealth And Survival

Sometimes survival means staying out of sight.

Crouch to move quietly, hide inside lockers and use the environment to break line of sight when a creature gets too close.

But hiding isn't always enough.

Different monsters perceive the world differently, meaning a strategy that works against one creature may be completely useless against another.

Understanding your enemy is just as important as avoiding it.

Multiple Antarctic Locations

ANGENEX operates across some of the most remote environments on Earth.

Your assignments will take you through isolated research facilities, underground installations, industrial environments and vessels stranded in Antarctic waters.

Each location introduces its own layout, objectives, hazards, systems and methods of escape.

And every site has its own story about what happened before you arrived.

Environmental Hazards

The world around you can be just as dangerous as the creatures inside it.

Extreme cold, hazardous areas, damaged machinery and failing systems can force your team to change plans on the fly.

Preparation matters.

The equipment you bring, the route you take and the risks you're willing to accept can determine whether you complete the mission or become another frozen casualty.

Choose Your Difficulty

CRYO features multiple difficulty options designed for both casual groups and players looking for a much harsher experience.

Higher difficulties reduce the availability of useful items while making the creatures hunting you more dangerous and intelligent.

Resources become scarce.

Mistakes become costly.

And teamwork becomes essential.

Welcome To ANGENEX

ANGENEX calls them routine recovery operations.

Restore communications.

Recover the research.

Repair the facility.

Locate the missing personnel.

They rarely tell you why the last team stopped responding.

Enter the facility.

Complete the mission.

Find a way out.

And don't assume everyone is coming home.
