Why Early Access?

“Concubine entered Early Access in October 2025 so we could develop and improve our dark fantasy Hack & Slash ARPG with player feedback. Since launch, we've expanded character customization, progression, companion systems, combat, exploration and base decoration, while improving performance and stability. Early Access allows us to test changes with players, address problems and refine the experience before the full release.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Concubine has been in Early Access since October 2025. We do not have a confirmed date for version 1.0. Before leaving Early Access, we want to further improve combat and progression, companion AI, controller support, stability and performance, and add more content. The timeline depends on development and testing, so we will announce a release window when we can provide a reliable estimate.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Our goal is a more complete, balanced and polished game. Areas we plan to develop further include:

- Combat and progression: More responsive attacks, improved animations and hit detection, better balance, skills, attributes, enemies and boss encounters.
- Companions: Improved combat behavior, movement, management and interactions.
- World and content: More locations, encounters, random instances, enemies, equipment and progression opportunities.
- Customization and bases: Additional outfits, armor, accessories, character options, furniture and decoration improvements.
- Controls and technical quality: More complete controller support, clearer menus, accessibility, localization quality, performance and stability.

Steam Achievements, Endless Arena and modding support are also on our roadmap, but we cannot guarantee when they will arrive or that they will be included in a particular release. Plans may change with development, testing and community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Concubine is a playable single-player dark fantasy Hack & Slash ARPG. The current Early Access version includes:

- A detailed character creator with face and body sliders, makeup, tattoos, outfits, armor and accessories.
- Recruitable and customizable companions, with up to three accompanying the player; equipment, skills and behavior settings.
- Melee and ranged weapons, magic, Special Attacks, Fury, character attributes and Skill Trees.
- Handcrafted locations inspired by historical Istanbul, rescue missions, bosses, random instances, loot and equipment progression.
- Palace and base decoration, furniture placement, vendors, Pose Mode and Photo Mode.
- Controller support for most core gameplay interactions and menus, including character customization and Build Mode.

The game is still in development. Some controller functions, including parts of Settings, Photo Mode and Pose Mode, are not yet complete. Combat balance, companion AI, animations, performance and stability continue to be improved. Players may encounter bugs or unfinished features.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently plan to keep the base game's price unchanged for the full release. Early Access purchasers will receive updates and the full version without buying the base game again. If our pricing plans change, we will communicate this in advance.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Players help shape Concubine through Steam Discussions, Discord, bug reports, balance feedback and feature suggestions. We publish patch notes and development updates, and work with volunteer testers to evaluate changes and investigate technical issues. We use this input to prioritize fixes and improvements, while sharing our broader goals through announcements and our roadmap. Not every suggestion can be implemented, and plans can change, but we will continue communicating openly as development progresses.”
