Why Early Access?

“I wanted to get an version out to the players while still in development, this invites players to help with feedback on the development, and also features they would enjoy being added to the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“If things go well; Less than a year.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The game is very small right now, with a very simplistic gameplay loop. While it is fun as a party game with friends/strangers, I plan on expanding the scope as development continues.

Here are some planned features which are currently in development, but if/when they are finished may vary, this is not a promise of their implementation or their quality:

  • Gamemodes - Sandbox mode, hunter vs hunter, zombie wave survival. Who knows?
  • More Hunter Classes - Currently only 5 in the game, more would be cool.
  • Monster Variety - The more the merrier.
  • Workshop support - Want to make and share your own map? Or maybe you have a weapon a weapon/gadget idea that is simply TOO good to NOT implement.
  • Hunter customization - Currently the only customization is changing your hunters glowing color, but holiday cosmetics, player decals, and monster/hunter skins are also in the works/planned.
  • Matchmaking - For those who just want to play without having to worry being in a group or becoming a part of a server community.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Only two maps in the game, and weapon/monster variety is low. While playable, it solely depends on players to host servers/lobbies themselves, with no proper matchmaking implemented. While fun for friend groups, clans, and LAN parties, it may be difficult to find an active server by yourself.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Feedback will be taken to heart, when the workshop is added, player skins, weapons, monsters, and maps will hopefully also be up for vote.

While modding Unreal Engine games is a lot more intensive than other game engines, the possibility for an SDK/mapbuilder of some sort is always on the table, especially if it is desired by the players.

I'm currently trying to keep the game within a certain storage budget, but I can't wait to see the reception and feedback that releasing the game in this early state will entail, the good and the bad.”

The Game

Shadow Stalker is an asymmetrical multiplayer horror experience. One player takes on the role of “The Hunted,” a near-invisible monstrosity armed with supernatural abilities, while 2–8 other players team up as “The Hunters,” a well-equipped elite task force.
