About This Game

"Do you really believe the moon isn’t there when you’re not looking?"

This famous quote, often attributed to Einstein, questions the strange nature of quantum mechanics. Inspired by this idea, Cassette Boy is a puzzle RPG set in a world where things cease to exist when you’re not looking.

At first glance, Cassette Boy looks like a simple pixel-art game. But there’s much more beneath the surface. What appears to be a 2D world is actually 3D—and by rotating the world, what is visible or invisible from the protagonist’s point of view changes entirely.

To solve puzzles, you’ll need to twist and rotate the map to change your perspective. For example, if something is hidden behind a wall and not visible from your viewpoint, it simply doesn’t exist.
You’ll advance the game by hiding obstacles out of sight or revealing secret paths.

But this is more than just a puzzle game—you’ll also collect weapons and battle monsters and bosses.
Explore this mysterious world, confront its bizarre puzzles and creatures, and manipulate “existence” itself to uncover the truth.

About Cassette Boy

The moon has vanished.
Because you weren’t looking at it.
And now the world is starting to fall apart.
When you’re not watching, the things that matter disappear.
So you need to keep looking.
Come on—
Let’s go find the moon.

Details

You awaken in a pitch-black world.
Guided by a glowing orb, you slowly begin to uncover the truth of this place:
Nothing exists unless it is observed.
The orb tells you the moon disappeared—because *you* weren’t watching.
And the moon is vital to this world.
To bring it back, you must embark on a journey.

In a world where the unseen is the unreal, you’ll face challenges that question the very nature of existence.

Key Features

Unseen = Uncertain.

In Cassette Boy, the “Schrödinger System” ensures that anything you can’t see simply doesn’t exist.
That person you just spoke to? The switch you were about to press? If they leave the screen, they’re gone.

Rotation-Based Mechanics.

The game world is built in 3D, and you’ll rotate the map to change what’s visible. This changes the way puzzles are solved in ways you've never experienced.

Perspective as Gameplay.

Your viewpoint isn't just cosmetic—it's a core mechanic. Ordinary camera movement becomes the key to solving mind-bending puzzles.

A Retro Look with a Modern Twist.

It may look nostalgic, but everything about this game is brand new.
Cassette Boy offers a mysterious and unique experience unlike anything you've played before.
