What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“So far, working on Caveshifter based on feedback from my playtesters has been the best way to make the game better. I already feel like there's a small community of friends who love playing and influencing the development of Caveshifter. (Some of them have already logged dozens of hours on the playtest app) I want to expand on this idea, and releasing this game as Early Access feels like the right, organic choice. Additionally, this game is a solo developer project, and having an involved community is going to be a huge help in terms of development and motivation.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“It's very hard to make such approximations as a solo developer, as there are too many variables to consider, such as personal situation, the success of early access, and community size. However, I don't want to keep Caveshifter in Early Access for more than a year

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“This game heavily relies on content and replayability. Most of the core systems are already established and fun, so the biggest difference is planned to be in the amount of content. I want to include at least twice the quantity of existing mechanics, such as trinkets, monsters, levels, rooms, and weapons. Additionally, I want to explore new systems, ways of character progression, and in-game activities, all with the help of players.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“There are 2 levels out of 3 to play (~half an hour per run). The game features around 20 unique weapons, about 100 items (both passive and active), and several mechanics that let you meaningfully modify your character, items, and weapons. Alternative characters are core of the metaprogression — there are 7 you can unlock in the current build. These numbers might change before EA release - right now I'm more focused on preparing free demo for you to try. (I will update this paragraph as things change)”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I expect to increase price after full release, but it's not something that I am 100% sure of.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'll be collecting ideas and feedback primarily through Discord and Steam Discussions, but I'm also certain that there will be numerous suggestions on social media.”

AI Generated Content Disclosure

The developers describe how their game uses AI Generated Content like this:

The game itself is completely 100% free of AI-generated content. I only used AI to help myself with store page. Examples: grammar corrections or generating character poses for artworks (composition and character designs are still handcrafted)

Mature Content Description

The developers describe the content like this:

Caveshifter uses pixelart, but there’s some stylized gore. Enemies can explode into blood when they die or leave blood spatters when hit. Certain actions — like sacrificing your own health for power-ups — are shown in a bloody and/or ritualistic way. It’s all pretty exaggerated and not realistic, but worth mentioning if you’re sensitive to that kind of content.
