What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Spread: Transmission has always been a game built together with the community and we are excited to open it up for everyone to play. Your feedback will help us develop a rich and accessible experience for both new casual and veteran competitive players. Our goal is to create a diverse game with many possibilities and we believe the best way to achieve that is to give players the ability to get involved early.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to stay in early access at least until the end of 2023. The actual duration of the early access phase depends on community feedback and gets prolonged if the scope of the game grows.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“We plan on adding new customizable rules, game modes and other content to the game for the players to experiment and craft their own experiences with. Additionally, we plan on further improving the game for newcomers with more opportunities to learn about strategies and mistakes. To achieve that and also to improve the game for singleplayer, we will add multiple different opponents with their own strengths and weaknesses as well.

Lastly there will be lots of smaller improvements and polish to enhance the game in general, like better UI and enhanced performance among other things.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Spread: Transmission already features all of the core gameplay elements. Players can play against bots and friends both locally and online. There is a large variety of maps players can choose from plus the ability to play on custom maps. Additionally, the game currently features two game modes which can be mixed and customized.

Generally, the game is considered stable with only some minor bugs that usually do not greatly affect matches. We are still in the process of tweaking the on-boarding experience for new players and while feedback is greatly appreciated, for now we recommend to learn the game with friends.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We intend to raise the price before leaving early access to account for the newly added features and content.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Due to the game's diverse nature, community feedback has impact on numerous areas. From gameplay features like rules and modes to quality of life and balancing, there is always room for improvements. You can voice your feedback and opinions directly here on the Steam Forums or over at our Discord server. We are looking forward to hear what you think about our game and how we can improve the game for you and everyone else.”

About This Game

In Spread: Transmission your opponents will crumble under your wrath, as you strategically plant charges across the board before inevitably launching a devastating combo taking over the entire island and winning the game!

At its heart, Spread: Transmission is a board game. You charge cells to claim them and if a cell is fully charged it will spread, launching a combo and taking over connected cells. Win the game by taking over all of your opponents’ charges.

You make the rules! Spread: Transmission is capturing the whimsical magic of house rules. Switch up the game at any time with “Labs”, a series of game modes that can be mixed and experimented with to craft beautiful and unique playing experiences.

Want to change the game up with boxes? We got you! What about a lot of boxes that spawn very rarely? Sure. Add a little fog for deeper strategy? Definitely! Spread: Transmission is about playing the game the way you like. A little change to the rules can lead to widely different matches.

Maps facilitate a fun playing experience and are also very capable of introducing gameplay concepts on their own. With over 20 maps to choose from and the ability to create maps on your own, the fun will never end. Design maps exploring various ideas like powerful combos, overcharging cells or just the concept of one-way-connections.

If level design is not your forte, that’s fine too! Just hop over to the workshop and discover countless creative maps and perhaps even your next favorite map.

Among other things, the full game will feature:

  • Five mixable game modes in total (including the core game mode)
  • Over 20 playable maps
  • Online & Local multiplayer for up to 8 players
  • Computer-controlled opponents
  • Level Editor & Steam Workshop support
