What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“Spark in the Dark is a hardcore dungeon crawler with a strong focus on atmosphere, difficulty, and player-driven exploration.

We are releasing the game in Early Access to gather feedback from players and improve core systems such as combat balance, progression, and overall difficulty. The game is designed to be challenging and unforgiving, so real player experience is extremely important for us.

We also want to involve the community in shaping the final experience — from polishing mechanics to expanding content and refining the overall feel of the dungeon.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We expect the game to remain in Early Access for approximately 2–3 years, depending on development progress and community feedback.

Our goal is to expand the game step by step, adding new levels, content, and improvements over time.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version is planned to include significantly more content and a complete journey through the dungeon.

We plan to expand the game from the current Early Access scope (first levels of the dungeon) to all planned levels, along with new enemies, bosses, items, and story elements.

In addition, we intend to improve and polish existing systems such as combat, balance, AI behavior, and progression, based on player feedback.

Overall, the full version will offer a deeper, more complete experience with expanded content and refined gameplay.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The Early Access version already offers a fully playable core experience.

Players can explore the first part of the dungeon (currently up to Tier 3), featuring multiple enemy types, weapons, items, and core gameplay systems such as combat, exploration, and survival mechanics.

The main gameplay loop is fully implemented, including character progression, equipment, and dungeon exploration. The game is stable and regularly updated with improvements and fixes.

However, content is not yet complete, and some systems will continue to be expanded and refined during Early Access.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We plan to gradually increase the price as new content and features are added during Early Access.

Players who join early will get access to the game at a lower price and be able to follow its development as it evolves.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“We actively involve the community in the development of the game and use player feedback to influence its direction.

We collect feedback through Steam discussions, reviews, and our Discord server. Players can report issues, suggest improvements, and share their experience.

Community feedback directly impacts gameplay balance, difficulty tuning, and quality-of-life improvements. For example, we adjust combat balance, enemy behavior, and progression systems based on player experience.

We also plan to expand content during Early Access, and player feedback will help us prioritize which features, mechanics, and improvements to focus on first.”
