What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'm a solo developer trying to deliver a product I can be proud of and I believe it's important that a developer is honest about what the consumer is getting. At the moment, Desperation is running well in private sessions but I know it needs to be pushed and tested with a larger population of players. I need to gather as much information from the community as possible and work on any issues before I can start thinking about a full release. On top of that what I have planned for this game far surpasses the state that it's in right now, but I am only one person. So I don't think it's fair to promise anything at the moment.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“At the moment, I plan on keeping Desperation within the Early Access program for roughly around 2 years. This will start on the initial release date of Desperation into Early Access. I can assure everyone that I will work as fast and as much as I can to push it towards a full release as soon as possible.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“As of right now, Desperation has all of the basic survival aspects you would expect from the survival genre, but I plan on pushing this game far past the normal expectations. I plan on adding more maps, weapons, tools, enemies, possibly different game modes and even dungeons to score some sweet loot. Those are just a few things I have planned.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Desperation has all of the basic survival aspects you would expect from the survival genre, including PvEvP, scavenging, crafting, building and raiding. So far, private test servers have been working properly and working mostly as expected with minor bugs.

PvEvp - You will have to fight against Zombies, Killer Robots, Beasts, Players and more while roaming and scavenging the lands. Watch your back or risk losing everything.

Scavenging - In order to stay alive, you must collect many different materials, foods and drinks, using either your hands or one of the many tools in order to craft and stay alive.

Building/Raiding - Once you've gathered up enough materials, you will be able to build a home base to place a spawn point, furnace, crafting bench and more. You will be able to upgrade your base to increase its defenses against anyone that wishes to raid your base and take what's yours.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Desperation will be going up in price with the full release of the game. This is to allow players who would like to play within the Early Access stage a chance to jump in at a lower price while supporting this project.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“There will be a public Discord server for every player of Desperation to join and give feedback, as well as meet up, chat and hang out with fellow players. I will be providing a support email as well, for anyone that would not like to join the community Discord but would still like to leave feedback.
