What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“I'm one guy working on the game in my spare time, and I think that the input from people about what is cool or interesting about the game will be valuable going forward. I wanted to make it available to people because I think the game even in its current state is a lot of fun and I hope people have fun as well.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“While this will probably change depending on the feedback I receive or how much the community responds to the game, I expect that there's probably about another year's worth of work that I plan on putting into the game. What is currently here took me about a year to build, and I don't want to work on the game forever, so I think that's about how long it'll take for the game to achieve its final state, so about February 2022.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Right now, the game is basically in the most limited form it can be and still be considered a game. There's all sorts of stuff I think would be cool to be added, including potentially more maps, or maybe more customization, or maybe more game modes, so think of this as the drawing board for what's possible.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable, with a very deep locomotion system that's a ton of fun to mess around with, both when chasing and getting chased by others, or just to mess around with on your own. There's only one map and one game mode, but since you can play with up to 10 people at a time and it's got a locomotion system that's pretty unique so far for VR, I think it's already a lot of fun, and there's nowhere to go but up.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“Because multiplayer in VR is fundamentally difficult for people to buy into, the base game will always be free so people don't have to worry about spending money on a game nobody else might be playing. If the game were to be monetized, it would be through something like optional cosmetics (never loot boxes, since I believe they're unethical), but I wouldn't restrict access to maps or game modes behind a paywall.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“My goal is to make a game that people find fun and engaging enough to want to play more. I have certain design goals and principles that I plan on sticking to, but as far as what people find valuable about the game, I would love to get that feedback to inform my decision making about what to work on next. Since it's a multiplayer only game, the community will be one of the important voices in that process. I'll also look at the steam forums for feedback, but the primary location for discussing the game will be in the discord at https://discord.gg/bandGuv”

About This Game

Reject humanity.

Run, climb, and jump in VR using a unique locomotion method that only needs the movement of your hands and arms. No buttons, no sticks, no teleportation. Push off of surfaces to jump and squeeze them with both hands to climb. The game mode is simple tag, for up to 3 players, or infection mode, with 4 or more. Run from the infected gorillas, or outmaneuver the survivors to catch them. Parkour up trees and cliff faces to evade and chase people down. Hang out in a virtual, low-fi jungle with randos or group up in a private room with friends to hang out and play. The stakes are low, so feel free to just chat or make up your own games. The movement is easy to learn, and hard to master. Crossplay with the Quest version of the game, so play with anyone, anywhere.

Become gorilla.
