Why Early Access?

“Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon is an incredibly ambitious project. Our goal is to create a living and breathing open-world RPG with a lot of soul. We are an indie studio with a small (30+ people) but highly ambitious team that wants to create this unique game together with the community. We believe that involving players at an early stage of the game can be a fun experience for players and highly beneficial for the game's development.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“We are aiming for a period of 9-16 months, depending on player feedback and general development flow.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The current Early Access version features the first chapter of the game, Horns of the South (around 10-15 hours of content), with more chapters to be added throughout the Early Access period. Please note that your saves may be deleted with major patches. 90% of major game mechanics will be present, but without final polish. There may be some bugs and imbalances. The final version of the game will have more visual and audio polish on all fronts. The story and quests from chapter 1 are mostly finished but may be altered based on player feedback.

- further improvements of all core game systems
- thievery systems (and improvements to stealth gameplay)
- dual wielding of weapons
- improvements to melee fighting
- player-owned house(s), gardening, fishing, and other such activities
- a lot of additional content”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The game is fully playable, with minor bugs. You can expect a lack of final polish, but you should have an enjoyable 10-15 hours of adventure with the main story, side quests, and plenty of places to discover. The game has full voice-over, and 90% of major game mechanics such as combat, crafting, alchemy, and magic are working.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We expect the price of the game to be higher for the full release, so buying during Early Access should get you a good deal!”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Working with the community is one of our core values, so we will involve people at many levels. We will be active here on Steam, giving updates and reading all the comments, as well as on our Discord server, where we can discuss things in more detail. Players will have a real impact on the design and balance of the game.”

Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a dark fantasy, open world RPG full of quests, loot, choices and monsters, set on a bleak island on the verge of ruin.

King Arthur is long dead and all the myths and legends are falling. Humans living in Avalon are desperately trying to find new ways of life and things to believe in. The plague of Red Death and the spreading Wyrdness are not helping. Time is running out and multiple factions have their own plan for the future of the island…

In this realm, slowly but surely sinking into chaos, you find yourself imprisoned in a damp, underground cell. At this point, you’re nobody, but who knows - you might just be the one who brings a spark of change to this land of everlasting Autumn.

The mysterious and complex story of Tainted Grail spans over 1,000 years, from the moment King Arthur led the people of the Homelands to the shores of Avalon. Journey through Avalon to uncover the dark secrets behind the Age of Conquest, Fore-Dwellers, and the Wyrdness itself.

The game is inspired by and based on the lore of the board game of the same name, which was created by one of Poland's best fantasy writers - Krzysztof Piskorski.

Customize your character

Face enemies the way you choose. Whether you want to strike from the shadows, use bows and daggers, fight face to face using cold steel, or use forbidden rites of the druids - you’re free to decide. Create your own, unique style and challenge the monsters of Avalon.

Make friends and enemies

During your journey, you’ll encounter simple commoners, battle-worn soldiers, and even gods of old in need of your assistance. You’ll have to make choices in a world in which there are no good answers, but your decisions matter and your choices are respected.

Trade, craft, cook

The game will come with many supporting systems that will allow you to use all of the gathered ingredients and transform them into useful items, life-saving potions or food. Coming prepared in this land, engulfed in the misty Wyrdness, is the key to survival.
