What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

Maestro VR has been in intense development for several years, aiming to provide an immersive symphonic orchestra conducting experience in virtual reality. Early Access allows us to better understand the needs and preferences of our community, incorporating their feedback directly into the improvements and features we introduce. Thanks to player interaction, we have completely redesigned the conducting and gesture system, and we are now preparing the next major update that will integrate the new Musical Piece Editor (Maestro Level Editor). This ongoing feedback is essential to achieving a refined and deeply immersive gameplay experience.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Our goal is to release this major update—which includes the Maestro Level Editor and the new gesture system—during the first quarter of 2025. This update will be so substantial that it will pave the way for the full version of Maestro VR. Once this integration has been consolidated and polished with the community’s help, we anticipate that the game can exit Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The final version of Maestro VR will not only offer a fully integrated gesture-based conducting system, but we also plan to enhance the experience with:

  • The new Maestro Level Editor, allowing you to personalize, create, and share musical pieces, as well as adjust animations and instruments.
  • An expanded repertoire of musical works, covering a wider variety of periods and styles.
  • More concert halls and interactive environments.
  • An improved and refined conducting system, including difficulty modes suited for both beginners and advanced conductors seeking a highly realistic experience.
  • Integration of advanced sound and playback technologies for superior audio quality.
  • A redesigned 3D menu interface for a more immersive experience.
  • General performance improvements, polished animations, optimizations, and adjustments based on community feedback.

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In its current state, Maestro VR offers:

  • More than 30 musical pieces to conduct.
  • 5 periods of Classical Music.
  • 5 concert halls.
  • A symphonic orchestra and choir responding to conducting cues, positioned with spatial 3D audio.
  • 14 batons with special abilities.
  • 5 power-ups with abilities to use per concert.
  • 4 difficulty levels.
  • An experience points system.
  • Titles based on experience to attract a larger audience to the concert halls.
  • Over 50 Steam Achievements.
  • A tutorial available in 8 languages.

Creative Mode

  • Hand tempo control, with 3 modes and varying sensitivities.
  • Load MIDI files to conduct your own pieces.
  • Support for custom SoundFonts.
  • Playback of MIDI files with spatial 3D audio.
  • Upload MIDI files to the Steam Workshop.

Casual Mode

  • An intuitive conducting system based on following arrows and indications.
  • Gameplay mechanics inspired by traditional rhythm games.

While we will not be releasing minor updates at this time due to the magnitude of the ongoing redesign, the currently available version provides a solid foundation for the experience we aim to perfect with the major update planned for the first quarter of 2025.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We do not anticipate any price changes during Early Access. However, after the full launch and the integration of all planned improvements, the price may be adjusted to reflect the increased content, features, and overall quality of the final product.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“The community is the fundamental pillar in the development of Maestro VR. We actively listen to feedback received through forums, social media, and emails. Players’ contributions have guided significant changes in the conducting system, interface, and gameplay. Moreover, the release of the Maestro Level Editor will enable users to create and share content, enriching the game’s ecosystem. As we approach the major update in 2025, we invite the community to continue offering ideas, suggestions, and bug reports, helping shape the definitive version of Maestro VR.”
