Why Early Access?

“GearBlocks is now at a stage where the fundamentals are there, it has plenty of content, and there’s lots to do in the game. It makes sense to get it into the hands of the Community so that players can put it all to the test, provide feedback, and impact the future direction of the project.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“This is difficult to say exactly, it depends somewhat on the Community feedback, requesting additional features, content, and so on. I’m aiming for the game to be in Early Access for roughly 12 months.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“This will likely be a combination of:-
  • Additional content (more parts, maps, etc.)
  • Refinements of existing features (e.g. improved building tools).
  • Additional features (such as modding support).

I have a huge list of things I’d love to add to the game, but none of this is set in stone, it will be shaped by input from the Community.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The demo version has a cut down selection of parts, maps, tools, and game modes, but it will give you a good sense of current the state of the game. It still has a few bugs here and there but is stable and has been extensively tested by the GearBlocks Community.

The Early Access version has the full selection of hundreds of parts, all the available tools, a damage system, and a better map.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“The price may increase slightly during or after Early Access if and when it makes sense, depending on the features I add and so on.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“While I have definite ideas about where I’d like to take this game, I want the project to be guided by input from you guys, the GearBlocks Community! Player feedback from the demo has already been invaluable, and it would be fantastic for this to continue.”

About This Game

GearBlocks opens up a world of mechanical creation: motors, gears, pulleys & belts, CV joints, spring dampers, linear actuators, and much more.

Want your car to have working steering? Build the steering linkages and hook up the rack and pinion gears. Want it to have a functional drive-train with a differential? Put it all together with gears, axles and a motor.


  • Create from hundreds of different mechanical elements that behave much like their real world counterparts.
  • Delve into the fine details of your creations with the flexible building system.
  • Jump into the driver's seat and put your vehicles through their paces.
  • Smash your constructions to smithereens or blow them up with explosives.
  • Make ragdolls from body parts and use them as your custom player character.
  • Start simple and ramp up your experience through a series of challenges in scenario mode.
  • Or jump right into creative mode for the ultimate freedom to build and test your machines, or even create your own challenges and mini-games.
  • Share your creations with the community, try out what others have made, and maybe learn a new building trick or two along the way!
