About This Game

Bo wakes alone on an island. His parents are gone. His home is locked. Something dark is spreading through a world that used to feel safe.

Black Hill is a storybook pixel art platformer about a small pig setting out to find what he's lost. It's cozy on the surface soft piano, warm colors, a quiet island and quietly heavy underneath.

30 to 60 minutes. The first chapter of a much longer story.

Bosses You Outsmart, Not Fight

The guardians blocking Bo's path aren't enemies you defeat with a sword. They're puzzles wearing armor. A charging minotaur is a hazard you lure into its own wall. A slime corrupted watcher is a rhythm you learn to slip past. Bo carries a wooden sword but it's for opening the world, not conquering it.

A Story Told Without Words

Bo's journey unfolds through the world itself a door that won't open, a broken statue holding a broken sword, shadows behind the final gate. What you feel when you play it is the story.

Part of Something Larger

Black Hill is the opening chapter of a world we're building an island of ancient temples, a village of animal folk, and the mystery of Tin Cat, the silent guardian who's been standing watch for longer than anyone remembers.

For fans of

  • Celeste: tight movement, quiet emotional weight

  • Sheepy: A Short Adventure: small scope, big atmosphere

  • Hollow Knight: melancholy corners, corrupted guardians

Bo will unlock the final door. When he does, he'll see something he wasn't ready to find.
