Why Early Access?

“You Are A Bird is launching in Early Access to create the best VR bird experience possible by letting the you help shape the future of the game right now.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm estimating ~1 year of Early Access.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“Ongoing development plans include:

  • Several different birds to fly as.
  • Additional biomes like cities, snowy forests, and tropical islands.
  • Humans to mess with.
  • More prey animals variety.
  • More Lite survival elements (thirst, rest, etc).
  • 💩ing on humans, cars, statues, etc.
  • Bird calls.
  • Mechanically different diurnal and nocturnal birds.
  • Predator animals on the ground.
  • Rare animals, plants, and more to discover.
  • Improved dynamic audio.
  • Improved flight mechanics such as "death-diving".

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“Bird flight simulation has been totally re-written based on real bird flight physics and is in a playable state.

Procedural world generation is fairly well optimized, with hiccups as new tiles are loaded in.

An early version of the prey hunting system is playable. Rabbits can be caught around the infinite world.

Eating prey is partially implemented in a rough state.

Audio and visuals are incomplete.
You may encounter bugs, performance issues, and generally rough edges at this early stage of development.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“No price increase is currently planned.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I'll be keeping up with the community over Discord http://discord.gg/HUaYVan, Steam Discussions, Reddit, Twitter, and probably other sites to build the ultimate bird experience.

There's already a ton of features and improvements in my To Do list from community discussions and I'm hoping to add more.”
