What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“This is the first game I've ever released and would like to work hand in hand with the community to help shape the game itself. I am a solo developer, have been modding games for years, and have contributed to other EA games in the past; I know how much it seems devs don't have a pulse on what the community is saying so I will do my best to listen to every person, every critic and supporter; no matter how small their idea is, if it resonates, then it has a shot of making its way into the game.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“I'm not looking to stay in EA for long, 6 months to a year. I aim to create a viable product that isn't shallow or over promised. After EA I plan to still add to the game in various ways but EA is just so I can get from version 0.1 to version 1 while being motivated/aided by the community.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“I plan on improving the art style and including more content such as maps, game modes, more predator and prey types (Birds of prey, foxes, small birds, reptiles, etc), singleplayer and a workshop. I will have a roadmap soon so players can know ahead of time what will be implemented in Cat & Mouse.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“The current state is a basic 'cat and mouse game' with (you guessed it) cats as predators and mice as the prey and two maps available. You can host servers with a variety of options for the rounds (Prey/ predator balance, point limit, time limit, etc).”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“I'm not looking to squeeze money out of players, I don't plan on raising the price much higher than where it is now, I just want to make a fun game that has a strong community. I love making games, its seriously awesome and I have many plans beyond Cat & Mouse. However, (as an example) if a demand for public dedicated servers gets high enough we may need to adjust the price to accommodate for the price of hosting these servers.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“I plan on taking as much feedback as possible by implementing multiple beta branches simultaneously so players can tell me what feels better (ex: predator speed change), I have a discord so players can directly communicate with me, and at some point in the near future I will start doing development videos on my personal Youtube channel. I don't want to completely leave it up to me nor do I expect players to be the only voice in development, I would like it to be a collaboration. After a workshop is added I would like to recognize modders/mods that the community and myself find impressive/fun by implementing a way of giving back to modders for their content in some meaningful way (This could be a semi-regular contest or just if enough demand from players) and adding select/popular creations to the vanilla game to keep the playerbase unfractured.”

About This Game

Cat & Mouse is a fast paced, asymmetrical, multiplayer game where you play a game of well.. cat and mouse. One team plays as Predators and the other team play as the Prey. Predators hunt the Prey to stop them from scoring points and the Prey try to avoid being decimated by their hunters and score enough points before the time runs out.

Cat & Mouse is very early in development and many features are temporary or missing at the start of Early Access. Currently the game is **ONLY MULTIPLAYER** but this will change in the future and the only predator and prey types are cats and mice. As the game develops I plan to add more variation to the types of predators and prey you can choose from, new game modes and way more levels. Currently the next addition to playable characters will be a Predator in the form of an owl and a handful of outdoor maps to go along with the owl predator type. There are several changes coming and a roadmap with planned additions/changes is coming as well.

Thanks for playing Cat & Mouse! I seriously appreciate it.
