Years after the confinement of Azhi Dahaka by Fereydun, the evil Deevs (Monsters) who were the commanders in the army of darkness led by Azhi Dahaka rose again in different parts of the ancient lands of Khunirath and rebelled against the humans who were celebrating the victory of the army of light.

This game is based on ancient Persian mythology bringing to life the epic battles of the mythological hero, Garshasp, in the ancient lands against the evil monsters. You play as Garshasp himself, the strongest man in Persian Mythology, in a journey to revenge and reclaim the legendary mace of his ancestors which is stolen by the Deevs. A journey which proves to unlock more significant hidden mysteries. The main mechanics of the game revolve around melee combat, platforming and exploration.

Hilariously low budget, but honestly, it's not that bad. It's a cheap God of War knock off but as long as you know what you are getting youself into, it's a decent rainy afternoon type of game. I've definitely spent $5 on worse.

I played it on win7 and win 10 and it always has the same problem: bluescreen. Maybe u can run it and play it without problems but even then the game is still maximum average.

讲道理这游戏的动作部分还可以,主角的几个连招,开宝箱,CG里面的动作感觉还是比较到位的,打击感的话也还算有,算是对得起它的价格了

不过有几点实在是值得吐槽
主角长得实在是有点丑,音乐也没什么亮点
成长性太低,没有加点,由于怪和经验宝箱是固定的,所以其实作者也就是在限制你的能力跟着剧情走罢了
最蛋疼的是视角,游戏本身是自动视角,玩家无法自由转动,而就我玩了这么一会儿就有2、3处视角会有180度的切换,如果按住一个键不换的话会导致主角在一个视角切换处来回的走,很多跳跃的地方还设置这种视角旋转的简直坑爹。

其实这游戏如果出在手机上应该会很不错,操作一共才4个键,砍起来应该挺带感

Exciting action RPG reminiscent of Heavenly Sword for the PS2 but with a hairy dude. Classic mindless fun as you button mash through hordes of bad guys! It's a stale concept, but at least it was done well for a quick fix of killing and fun if you're a preteen who likes violence and button mashing.

well.. a lot of nostalgic feelings gives me this game. like, its a combination of GOD OF WAR and PRINCE OF PERSIA. WHAT DO YOU WANT MORE?

but.. after that nostalgia i can see.. well... meh.. i mean, it was created on 2011 but.. meh.. the animations are really good.. but the graphics.. eh.. you know.. thats not good.. and i mean.. you know.. the cinematics.. they're.. really.. REALLY PATHETIC.
i mean, you guys paid a lot of time doing that cinematics on 2011.. but.. diffrent models and things.. no.. nah.. i.. nope.

and the story is.. well.. i don't really know how the story is because i didin't played this game a lot but.. i cannot see the story. i mean you guys didin't specified a lot of the story.

and the combat.. is really not that much of good. i mean i'm not having fun in combat.. is really boring.. i mean.. for a 2011 game is really fine but.. yeah.

and the worst thing about this:
NO OPTION THINGY IN THE GAME!

in rest pretty good game i appreciate you.

i gotta give it a thumbs down, game is just too random, no explanation of almost anything, trying to mimic darksiders or gow but does it really really badly, cant control camera, cant costumize anything... just a bad game overall, not worth the money imo, not even on sale

Trys hard to be good but dated with clumsy controls and combat that at times feels like luck. Some enemy are just annoying where some attacks will leave them where they can be dispatched with a quick time event but no clues on how to trigger that. The camera is in the wrong place at times and there are platform sections that feel bolted on to add something else to do apart from attack the same few monster types. Could have been good but falls to short, could not even be bothered to finish even though short.

I will try the follow up and see if that fixed the flaw but skip this one

和战神很想。不过这个画面不提了。还不如psp的战神呢。
除了砍砍砍,什么都没有。这是哪门子的波斯神话啊。
看来波斯神话不是一本书,而是一把刀。烂的可以。

什么鬼?只看脸我TM以为主角是关羽!
又仔细一看,这什么鬼下巴?主角双下巴我就不说了,
这双下巴还是左右的,左右的我也就不说了,还TM是牛角状的,
把脸倒过来就是牛了!还有这个画质,来个抗锯齿都不加是什么鬼幌子?
我是没有找到设置的选项,真的没找到!还有这个是固定视角的。
鼠标有用,但是只能用鼠标的左键和右键,鼠标移动没乱用。
那你还不把攻击键给我改成J和K呢!我想说,
这游戏你不认真玩你会发现这游戏不好玩,你认真玩了,
你发现TMD更不好玩。我在旋转跳的地方放弃了。
太坑爹了,摔下去就直接死。你三姨啊!
学下鬼泣也好啊- -!而且一路下去全是砍,
而且这砍得技术性也没有,招式也就只有几个。
这种3d俯视固定视角我玩不起。

一款模仿战神的动作类游戏,虽然模仿的不是很成功。
剧情:无,基本就是杀杀杀;
打击感:还可以;
boss战:一般,起码不是qte。
动作流畅性:不是太好,但连招效果做的不错(幸亏轻攻击3次有个回旋斩,不然被怪一围就惨了)。
一个模仿战神的作品,永远也无法超越战神。还是要有些新的东西才行!

Garshasp really wants to be the God of War. He's even been practicing Kratos' trademark scowl of perpetual anger.

Unfortunately for him he's a little like that friend who thinks they're a brilliant singer, only you'd rather force macaroni noodles inside your ears than listen to them belt out off-key renditions of what at some point where probably real songs but have morphed into unimaginable abominations through a voice you can't seem to escape. Garshasp is clumsy at his best of times, broken at his worsts, and always as entirely unpleasant as his almost reptilian face which firmly states that no, we are not and will never be friends (he's kind of an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like that).

The Monster Slayer is an action game that plays like a bunch of awkward breakdancers trying to murder each other but somehow only managing to land a hit every third try. Garshasp's movements are flashy, but annoyingly slow and prone to completely breaking the already poor hit detection, with hits and characters clipping through each other constantly as everyone flails around madly until they run smack into one of the omnipresent and aggressively restrictive invisible walls.

Even when combat is "working" it's still essentially broken, with your character being entirely overpowered and enemies only being a threat so much as their outrageously large health bar threatens to put you to sleep as you monotonously mash the same buttons waiting for them to eventually die. The fixed camera is as pleasant and functional as a handicam held by someone who has had a few too many drinks, either obscuring platforms, breaking the environment, or causing you to puke as it stutters around erratically.

And naturally there are the moments when the game simply gets a little fed up with having to even partially function and decides it's going to chop your framerate in half, or freeze up during an important jump, or just crash entirely because damn it being a game is hard and Garshasp has had enough of it! Frankly I've had quite enough of him as well.

Please don't call. Forget this ever happens. I'll be busy with drowning myself in booze hoping I can do the same.

Well, I actually enjoyed this.

I read the reviews, expected the worst, yet for a game I was supposed to hate, I still came away having finished it twice and had fun both times.

As others have said, it is a God of War knock off, and a budget one at that. The voice acting is not very good, and the story, well a bunch of fantasy-sounding names doing this and that... I couldn't really keep track of who was who, so it was enough to know I had to kill the bad guy at the end. Gameplay is basic hack and slash, and though you can kill most of the early grunts by simply grabbing them, later enemies need to be made vulnerable first. Much like GoW, it has orbs to collect, quick-time-events, large boss battles, some cut-scenes, weapons upgrading, and special "rage" attacks. The world is decently large, but there is little backtracking and generous save points to keep things moving.

The hack-and-slash gameplay is broken up with some light platform elements, a few sequences of sliding down walls, and quick-time-events for some of the boss battles. Those QTE's are one of the bigger weaknesses, as it can be very tricky to trigger a few of them (looking at you - swamp boss).

Other issues include some occasionally dodgy hit-detection, a sometimes problematic camera, and absolutely terrible keyboard-mapping; use an Xbox 360 controller. On the plus side, the game has decent (if now dated) graphics, a good pace, some decent cut-scenes and at 4-5 hours on normal, it does not overstay its welcome.

Others have complained about the controls. Be warned that the game by default works with an Xbox 360 controller, but it is not set up correctly until it is selected in the Game Configuration on launch! Once this is done, the game controls exactly as expected: left stick moves, right dodges, and the buttons and triggers perform attacks and other actions.

Overall, as a light-hearted action romp that does not require a whole lot of thought, it actually turns out to be a pretty fun game. It is easy to get into, not so difficult that you can't progress with at most a few tries (on normal), and pretty satisfying when you actually get to the end. Wait for a sale for sure and set your expectations accordingly, but once there it turns out to be a fun little budget action title that is well worth the small asking price.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE BURLY ♥♥♥ GARSHASP WEIGHS LIKE A ♥♥♥♥ING BRICK WALL WHY IS THE ♥♥♥♥ING RAFT SINKING BEFORE YOU ROW? WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ WERE THESE IRANIAN MOTHER ♥♥♥♥ERS THINKING WHEN THEY THOUGHT A BURLY ♥♥♥ MAN WOULDNT NEED A BIGGER BOAT? CLEARLY GARSHASP NEEDS A ♥♥♥♥ING YACHT, A BOAT ONLY FIT FOR SLAYERS OF MONSTERs.

Garshasp: The Monster Slayer is a hack and slash game in a similar style to God of War. Unfortunately for this indie disaster, it only shares the same genre as God of War and none of the polish, breathtaking visual polish, and satisfying combat. The world of Garshasp is bland and boring, the story is generic, and the protagonist is the illegitimate child of the Prince of Persia and Kratos.

The combat in Garshasps is absolutely dreadful, the combat feels slow and repetitive. The lack of combat animation variety was pretty jarring even for a game that only lasts three hours. This is magnified further by the developer's arrogance to create zoom in effects whenever Garshasps does a grapple kill. It looks awful enough from a distance, it just looks downright funny close up. The sound effect also does the combat no credit. Everything sounds muffled and of low quality, combined with the fact that weapons clip through enemies makes it very difficult to feel any sort of satisfaction when smacking baddies around.

The puzzles and platforming in Garshasps, while bad, is still more serviceable than the combat. Moving obstacles have these huge boundary boxes that pushes you away if you get to close to them. This makes traversing areas with loads of moving traps tough because you can't predict when you'll get hit. You have to leave huge arbitrary amounts of space between Garshasp and the trap in order to avoid getting hit. It's still doable, and areas without any traps is a treat to run through. The wall sliding on the other hand is rage quit inducing. The sliding is incredibly fast and hard to deal with when the controls are unresponsive.

Shockingly enough, Garshasp does have some redeeming qualities. The game itself has a generic world but it is a well designed generic world. The swamp foliage and boss art design looks fantastic even without anti-alias, the textures didn't look half bad for a budget title. The story has a good origin in Iranian mythology, but delivered poorly through un-epic writing and very poor narration. Garshasp: The Monster Slayer is a stellar example of when good ideas can't formulate good games.
