About This Game

Portal 2 draws from the award-winning formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music that earned the original Portal over 70 industry accolades and created a cult following.

The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers. Players will explore never-before-seen areas of the Aperture Science Labs and be reunited with GLaDOS, the occasionally murderous computer companion who guided them through the original game.

The game’s two-player cooperative mode features its own entirely separate campaign with a unique story, test chambers, and two new player characters. This new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals. Success will require them to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively.

Product Features
  • Extensive single player: Featuring next generation gameplay and a wildly-engrossing story.
  • Complete two-person co-op: Multiplayer game featuring its own dedicated story, characters, and gameplay.
  • Advanced physics: Allows for the creation of a whole new range of interesting challenges, producing a much larger but not harder game.
  • Original music.
  • Massive sequel: The original Portal was named 2007's Game of the Year by over 30 publications worldwide.
  • Editing Tools: Portal 2 editing tools will be included.

Download game thinking it will be easy enough, get through the first few tests alright, find a hard one and spend 30 minutes figuring out what to do, then find out you're just stupid. Besides that excellent game, one of the best games I've played.

This was the game that got me into Steam, so it means much to me.

First of all, this game i the sequel to portal still alive, which I would also reccommend because it's cheap and fun.

The game itself is pretty short, but if you take the time to explore the levels, you may find an easter egg or an incredibly funny piece of dialogue that you've previously missed. The game is funny, challenging and has an amazing story that doesn't get thrown in your face like you're a baby. You have to at least think a little to figure it out. But that's what this game is all about.
This has been it for the game itself.

Then it comes to why the pc version is greater. You can create your own test chambers now. Either with the easy to use included level editor or whatever advanced creators use, hammer I think.

All of that for 20 euros, Otherwise just wait for either the winter sale, the exploration sale, or the summer sale because it will be a garantueed discount.

Easily in my top 2-3 games of all time. I'm a lover of humor, a good storyline, and puzzles. This game does them all absolutely superbly. Amazing voice acting, as well.

You don't need to have played the first Portal to enjoy this, but you will definitely enjoy it MORE if you did. And really, you're going to enjoy both of them, so why not play both? This one is at least twice as good as the first Portal, though -- for me. Not only does it introduce new puzzle elements and devices, but the humor is a good combination of the dry, sarcastic humor from the first game and a bit more of an obvious, British-type humor. And the storyline is much more compelling.

If you're one of the 15 gamers left on the planet that hasn't played Portal 2, do yourself a favor and play it now. You will NOT be disappointed!

Not your ordinary puzzle game! 9/10! Just two little things... chapters I do not like that mutch, but give a little history to Apurature Labratories. But do get the game! But there are steps to the game:
step 1: get out of bed
step 2: grab some breakfast
step 3: grab your portal gun
step 4: tel GLADOS your ready for testing
step 5: test
step 7: fall in the hot steaming toxic pool and die.

Sure, it’s a puzzle game. You can go on and about the unique physics, the retro futuristic visuals, but it’s so much more than that. You gotta hand it to Valve. They know how to write scripts with suspenseful storylines and quirky characters and dark sense of humor. Beautifully executed too, with solid voice works done by pros. (Love J.K. Simmons). So I think it’s a social political satire in disguise, hiding in the visceral medium of a game. Walking around in this gaint abandoned dystopian facility, you really get the sense of awful things have been done in the name of science. I think it’s a critique of general public’s utilitarian attitudes towards science and an obvious reflection of scientific ethics (you can feel this in all Valve’s titles). Sure science is helpful and crucial, without which this game wouldn’t be built. But science have yet to solve every problem there is. For example, I’m Chinese, I would say Chinese schools feels much like an Aperture Laboratory where your whole minute existence is dedicated to various kinds of test. There’s tests after tests and more tests for the next 65 years (yo science!). In fact, I think this problem is pan-asian. Korea, Japan and some southeastern Asian countries probably had the same kind of notoriously test oriented education system. Students, lab rats, same difference. (Of course this is a lazy miserable student talking…) And for what purpose? Is science to blame? You get the kind of nihilistic attitude the game radiates. It’s also very reminiscent of the movie Cube series, both aesthetically and thematically. (And that’s all I can remember so I’ll stop there.) Also you can say Aperture is a comment on the kind of mammoth inefficient government with tons of redundancy, wasting taxpayer’s money doing grandiosely ridiculous projects. Wheatley, the friend who starts as an innocent powerless untouchable only end up stabbing you in the back and starts a tyranny when put in powerful position. So there’s a nod at humanity’s weakness and institutional failure. GlaDOS, the omnipresent omniscient AI, the Big Sister forever watching you with “vital testing apparatus”. A kind of question on the validity of some observational psychological experiments and the futility of deciphering the complex human mind. It’s a law of quantum mechanics that the “very act of observation changes that which is being observed”. Who would build such a thing? I think it’s a manifestation of people’s desire of being in control. I mean, is anybody you know a compulsive control freak? Or like some culty party who are in the habit of extending their hands to interfere and meddle with every facet of your life. I am of course speaking from the collective experience of being a Chinese, who lives in a place where long history of centralized totalitarian governing tradition is something we are proud of. And there’s Cave Johnson, the glib devil-may-care amoral archetype of corporate greed. But apart from him, the whole Portal universe is humanless and apathetic. Which is aesthetically refreshing and also yet another genre bending attempt at depicting a brave new world that’s cruelly objective and coldly scientific and existentially nightmarish.

I was that kind of player that took 30 minutes in some levels just for how beautiful and detailed they were. This game is what made me love techonology, science. It has humour, sad and just plain amazing. If I had 50 friends that would want this game I would buy for each one of them so they can enjoy the game just as a I did. Thank you so much valve for making this game called Portal 3. I love you too Glados.

If you want to make maps download the Portal 2 Authoring Tools NOT the ingame one. You can accomplish much more in the Portal 2 Authoring Tools if you want to make a chamber.

Not an actual review but saying this so that no more -annoyingly- bad maps keep happening from the Portal 2 editor.

You can make things such as custom decals, you can add props, you can add computers, YOU CAN ADD BALLBOT (inside joke lol funny) and you also get access to every item in portal 2. That includes wheatley core, as well.

This is my first review so please don't judge me if I fail to follow the form.
Few years ago my brother and I played this game. When he saw it on winter holiday sale he "made me" buy it for both of us.
I finished single player first and I just love quotes, both Wheatley's and GladOS's. Single player felt longer then first game's and that sudden fall and change of surrounding is great. Cherry on cake is credit song which I only saw on Portal games and make these games so special.
I also like fun that doing these achievements brings, from throwing yourself into pit to breaking screens that results with some funny Wheatley's quotes.

I think many people will agree with me when I say that co op is equaly good but even more fun the single player.
That is the element of game that I spent most of my in-game time on. Playing standard co op levels seperated into 5 groups of courses (not counting bonus courses) is great way to first learn game basics (in case you didn't play single player) but also to realize how good is your partner (how good reflexes he/she has, how much time is he/she willing to spend thinking, is he/she too stubborn to be played with, can you two understand eachother and how good host he/she is). I can say I played with at least 10 different partners I met online and finding few that I really enjoy playing with was not easy task.

I also love the fact it has option to design your own test chamber and publish it on Steam Workshop pretty easily. Thanks to that you can, while in game, browse for the test chamber that is on your level (to be honest probably everyone after playing standard co op or/and single player for few times gets better on understanding game rules so he/she can solve harder tests more easily), subscribe and play it. There are whole collections of tests, some even with custom graphics and voices used to tell you original story through testing. You can choose from racing test to very complex one that require thinking.

Playing this game you can very easily catch yourself asking how did time pass by so quickly. One of my co op partners and I spent over and hour playing just one test, but I don't regret a second because it was so much fun :).

I am going to finish this with conclusion that this game connects different people which all have one thing in common- they are ready to do some testing :)

I really hope I didn't fail form and this review helped someone decide to buy this game and be satisfied with it like I am.

Portal 2 is a masterpiece, a work of art that you will love for its ingenious story pop-culture, references to logical puzzles and co-op multiplayer. Definitely a candidate for game of the year.
