Awesome game. Multiplayer is the reason I got it for. Used to play it on the original xbox so I had to set it up to play it with a Ps4 controller. Had a few FFA's where I was 1st place.

All though this is BY FAR the best star wars game ever created (in my opinion) I am having so many problems trying to play this game on my steam :((((((( It really sucks because this is a game i have played since my childhood aince when this was released! and It has been years since ive played I was so excited to take a trip through my childhood!! unfotunately My optimal resolution does not seem to work. I have changed the properties and even tried changin it multiple times it seems that the resolution is lesser than what is needed but even when chnagin it to the right size its still a problem... I tried changing it to wondows mode but I believe the game itself is too old and not as frequently played :(

THE PLOT

STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy allows the player to control a character named Jaden Korr, a student who is brought to the academy from Coruscant, after he/she managed to create his/her own lightsaber without any previous Jedi training or experience.
Jaden is customizable by the player, with options like different races, different genders, different lightsabers and more.
The game takes place after the events of Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.
At the start of the game, the Jedi Academy is attacked by Imperial Remnant forces, as well as by unknown Sith.
They manage to steal some information that is critical to the Jedi Academy and the Jedi Order.
Jaden then gets dispatched after completing the training at the Academy, and he/she is tasked with keeping the peace across the galaxy.
Along Jaden's journey, he/she meets a variety of legendary Star Wars characters like Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca, as well as the iconic Jedi Master Kyle Katarn.
Jaden also meets new enemies like Tavion and her Disciples of Ragnos.
Besides this, Jaden visits various iconic places like Yavin IV, Tatooine, Hoth & many more.

THE GAMEPLAY

The game features a RPG-like system which allows the player to distribute certain points on certain force abilities (the previous instalment, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, did not feature this feature).
Besides this, the game also allows the player to partially customize their characters, with options to choose things like the race and the clothes, as well as the lightsaber style and colour.
The game feels very similar to Jedi Outcast, with many of the controls as well as the hud elements being identical.
The combat is very similar to the previous instalments in the series, but the lightsaber combat in particular feels much better than the previous game. I found the lightsaber to be a much more viable option than the blasters, which were the way to go in Jedi Outcast.
In the end, I managed to finish the entire game with only the lightsaber.
For the first time ever in the Jedi Knight series, the game allows the player to choose from a number of different missions, which will lead the player to different planets and it ultimately allows them to meet different legendary characters.
Before you start any mission, you get to choose what force abilities, weapons and utilitarian items you want to bring, which is a very neat feature in my opinion.
The game features some very unique and dynamic levels that can be very overwhelming at times, but they are ultimately a joy to play through.
Halfway through the game, you get to make a choice between the light and the dark side, with either option giving you a different path to follow for the rest of the game.
The only issue that I have with this game is its length.
I managed to finish the game in less than 8 hours, while I managed to finish Jedi Outcast in 12 hours.
Nonetheless, I felt like the story and the gameplay made up for this issue, and because you get a choice between the light and the dark side halfway through the campaign, the game is highly replayable.

THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS

This game did not have any issues on my end, with no crashes, freezes or any major lag spikes.
The game felt very optimized in my opinion.
The only reasonable issue that one could have is the lack of modern resolutions for the game, meaning that the game is only playable with black bars if you play on a monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio.
Anyone that has played any of the previous instalments in the Jedi Knight series should not have any issues with this, newer players however might need to adjust to this.
The game once again features the brilliant quick save and quick load system from Jedi Outcast, allowing you to quickly save and load at any moment during the game (except the cutscenes, obviously).
Lastly, the controls are once again completely customizable, with the ability to rebind every single function at will.

MY VERDICT

All in all, Jedi Academy is a worthy ending to the Jedi Knight series.
Its core gameplay feels very similar to previous instalments, but its story is completely fresh and memorable.
If you have played any of the previous Jedi Knight games, or even if you are a fan of older games with some great gameplay and a good story, then you should definitely add this game to your collection.

Play SP for Star Wars-ness. Play MP to find it's dead. Download MovieBattles 2 and realize it's the way to be played.

With MB 2, it is the most ADVANCED LIGHTSABER game to date.

10/10, Darth Jar Jar recommends this game.

If the two KOTORs are praised as one of the best, if not the best games in the Star Wars universe thanks to their well-written and entertaining story, Jedi Academy deserves the same recognition for its perfectly designed combat mechanics. The JKA singleplayer offers an intriguing lightsaber combat featuring 5 different techniques, including a staff and dual sabers, and accompanied by both light and dark side force powers. As such, the game will test your combat abilities and put you against stormtroopers, proper Dark Jedies, and other enemies, letting you enjoy all the perks of being a Jedi. Trust me, there is no better feeling than force gripping a defenceless stormtrooper, choking him while he levitates above a botomless abyss, only to release him the second before he dies to watch his body fall into the darkness and oblivion (dark side forces are always so entertaining!).

When finally bored with the singleplayer (replayability confirmed, only the story is a bit dull), I recommend installing Movie Battles II, a multiplayer mode for JKA that features a complete lightsaber combat overhaul, focusing on blocking mechanics and different fighting styles from the SW universe. With this mod, the game changes into an incredibly challenging beast, able both to entertain you for hundreds of hours before you finally master it's combat system, and drive you completely nuts by being defeated and humiliated again and again by duelists better than you. What is more, besides waving with a pointy lightstick, you can take on the role of other professions from the Star Wars universe and play in an open mod with objectives as a stormtrooper, bounty hunter, wookie or various types of droids, all with their own special abilities.

Playing MBII is sometimes like being in an abusive relationship. It beats the sh*t out of you in such a manner that you feel like having been an*ly r*ped by a particularly large exemplar of a rancor, but somewhere deep inside you know that you want more. And that you seem to enjoy it.

This game is a gem. By today's standards a very old-fashioned gem, but underneath the crust of dated graphics is a diamond core. The single-player campaign is enjoyable to play through even today and gives a solid introduction to multiplayer, which is where the game really shines. The multiplayer community is not what it was but there are still servers which see activity. There are also a whole bunch of mods available; everything from skins to partial to total conversions.

If you've ever really wanted a lightsaber and to be able to wield it like a Jedi, I recommend you grab this little piece of history. SP will give you a taste, while in MP you have a shot at true mastery. Some people have mad skills. (I don't).

I very much enjoyed this game. It is a great continuation of the Jedi Knight storyline. I highly recommend playing this game but I suggest playing Jedi Knight Outcast first.
