when i was 9 years old i saw this game while browsing on youtube and i really wanted to play it but i didnt have a steam account so i couldnt really figure out how to play it, a few months ago i saw the game on sale and i decided to buy it just for the nostalgic childhood moments. I didnt expect the game to be fantastic, just a standard game with bad graphics because it was developed in 2005. But when i played the game i was really surprised, i didn't expect the game to be so good, when you look at it; the graphics are actually very good for a 2005 game, the story is amazing and the gameplay is very enjoyable. Because of the variety of different weapons there are options of playstyles for each individual person. and the ability to remotely control your teammates is very nice too, i just wish there was a sequel or a remake kind of thing, i would be very happy to see this game remade with modern day technology.

Great Star Wars Shooter.
It has a very good story and the mapdesign is good either. You can still play the multoplayer with Game Ranger, a program to play old games in multiplayer.

Amazing first person shooter.

Just picked this up recently after playing it many years ago and it is one of the few games which I feel was not made good by nostalgia but in fact one of the best star wars games made and with very good graphics for its time.

Needs a sequel!

When I first played this game years ago on the xbox, what struck me then and still does now is the fact that the game had friendly AI who were actually competant and capable of dealing some real damage to the enemy. They're not just background pieces made to look good while you go Rambo on the enemy.

The gameplay is still solid now, with few glitches, if any. Your teammates can be directed in battle to perform various actions and use specialized weapons against the enemy. The game doesn't give you freedom to choose where to set up these weapons anywhere you please. Instead, it places those locations strategically, which isn't surprising with how old the game is and how revolutionary the AI design was for a singleplayer campaign at the time. There's good level design and coupling that with hard difficulty will make players cautious as they advance towards their objective. You can have your AI partners arm bombs, hack doors, and other various tasks, or you can do it yourself and have the AI protect you (which they actually do, though you still need to be alert of enemies that slip by). If you royally screw up (maybe you threw a grenade and it bounced back into your face, or you took an anti tank round to the chest) and get shot down, it's not game over. Instead, you have a chance of getting revived and back into the fight.

Sound assets are still good. Subtitles are recommended if you want to know what everyone's saying since blaster fire and explosions can drown out certain pieces of dialogue. The soundtrack consists of a mix of star wars music and the same music mixed with a bit of a choral-like singing which adds to the dark atmosphere of the game. Your partners will sometimes say funny quotes, some scripted, some not, depending on who you have doing what (quoting Sev, "Sir, you sure you don't want somebody who can shoot straight?") Overall sound is good.

The graphics of the game hasn't aged well over the years but the game's still running smooth on my system (Windows 7). I still haven't seen many graphical glitches in the game. Not much more to day.

Overall if the game still works on your PC, it's worth taking a look at Star Wars Republic Commando.

Pretty damn good game I'd say myself for just under 10 hours of campaign gameplay! I love how it starts on Geonosis at the beginning of the Clone Wars in the 2nd movie, "Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones" and ends around the time of the Separatist Invasion of the Wookie homeworld Kashyyyk in the 3rd movie, "Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith". It is an awesome and excellent First-Person Shooter game for being made in 2005!

I liked this game, and keep wondering why there isn't a sequel out given *spoilers* *spoilers* *more spoilers*. I'm hardly a fan of the Star Wars prequels, but the characters and plot are interesting and solid. I especially love the first half of chapter 2, with its "haunted house" feel. I can even get over the fact that Scorch is voiced by Raphael Sbarge (that guy who will forever be Carth Onasi to me and who only has one acting style), given that all the squad's personalities are both clearly defined and show development across the plot-arc. For instance, I love how Fixer is incredibly straitlaced but sometimes the facade cracks, just a little.

I also don't play a whole lot of shooters, but I really enjoyed the feeling of being in charge of a squad that reacts to me without a whole lot of complicated keyboard commands to memorize. In fact, there's only one button to direct every terrain-contextualized action, and that's okay with me! A little odd that the boys will get infinite ammo of whatever type they're using while they're in a terrain position, but hey, Scorch lobbing unlimited grenades is also okay with me. The graphics are also fine for how old it is, and I like the little details like the visor windshield wiper for rain/blood/oil/scratches(!?). It was a little frustrating at times when running low on ammo or health and with no way to get more before having to survive difficult waves of enemies, but that's almost certainly because I'm not very good at shooters. :P

Overall, I really got the feeling that I was part of a team while playing this game, and it was really awesome.

Star Wars: Republic Commando was a great experience for the most part, but it got fairly repetitive after a while. I got VERY tired of how many times I've had to breach a door or kill Droidekas and Super Battle Droids, and It doesn't help how easy this game is. Anything one would consider "challenging" about it is how you run out of ammo in the midst of every other SBD/Droideka/Spider-Droid/Magna-Guard "Ambush". Because of the game's repetitive tendancies, the little length that the game has seems like less of an issue. The game does have it's moments though. For example, I personally found it fun mowing down Battle Droids and Geonosians every once in a while. The game's soundtrack was an enjoyable mix of music from the Prequel Trilogy, a bit of music from the Original Trilogy, and some original music written specifically for this game. Soundtrack aside, the graphics of this game compliment the feel of being in the Star Wars universe as well. Despite all the problems the game has, it still has that charm to it that many other Star Wars games have, so I definately reccomend it
